The Wrestling 9 Deuce – April 9 & 10, 2018 – Mania Aftermath

Welcome everybody to another week of the Wrestling 9 Deuce.  I am your host, Kent.  We had the RAW and Smackdown Live after Wrestlemania, so we had returns, debuts, and surprises, plus a TNA name drop.  Wow!!  All of this and much more!  Anyway, Keri asks the questions around here, Anonyruss and Harper Lee answer them, and Keri decides a winner at the end.  Simple stuff.   Over on our podcast, Are You Not Kentertained we talk about all of this stuff plus other wrestling related news and tidbits.  Please enjoy.

____________________________________________

  1.  Paige retired from in-ring competition and became Smackdown’s new GM this week. Discuss.

Anonyruss:  I’m glad they have something for Paige to do.  I felt horrible for her when she was permanently sidelined.  So while this isn’t ideal it is better than nothing. Not to mention maybe the position is like magic!  I mean Daniel Bryan miraculously got better and is now a full-time wrestler again. Perhaps being General Manager of Smackdown magically cures you, but it takes a year or so depending on the severity of your injury.  I lost my point… Yay Paige as Smackdown GM!

Harper Lee:  I am so happy for Paige. She has not been too lucky as of late. That neck injury of hers is oh so sad. While I didn’t like Absolution’s tactics, I still respected Paige the person. I think she could be excellent in her new role and this feels very fresh to me.  She can be good as both a face or a heel. I am also really looking forward to her new film. My brother Eric loved her last film. He always watches it by himself. I don’t quite understand why. I thought Santa’s Little Helper was adequate, but I don’t understand why he watches alone.

Keri’s Verdict:  I couldn’t be happier with how events unfolded this week for my girl Paige. I was almost in tears when she gave her in-ring retirement speech and then was very happy when she was named the new Smackdown GM. Alright, time for the point for question number one. I like Anonyruss’ theory that being Smackdown GM has healing powers and therefore he gets the point.

  1.  We have a new Smackdown women’s champion and she is f-a-b-u-l-o-u-s. Carmella cashed in, dethroned the queen, and is our new Smackdown women’s champ. Discuss.

Anonyruss:  Wow, is it my birthday? Two questions on the women’s division!  Sure neither of them are about Ronda, but I still have a few questions to answer.  Now as far as this story goes. Hooray! The Iconics are here! They had a wonderful debut on the Main roster.  They did something that Charlotte has struggled with for years. They put a magnificent promo together. I do have to give Charlotte some credit.  She took that vicious beating like a champ. I’m very interested in seeing where this all goes, but for now All Hail the new Queen! Carmella! May her reign last longer than one ppv!

Harper Lee:  Really? That’s how they are going to treat the single most talented female wrestler ever. This is ridiculous! I am OUTRAGED! How is this even fair to Flair? She just beat the unbeatable. She deserved a night off and some darn respect. What kind of cowardly move was that by Carmella? She hasn’t been relevant in months. Meanwhile, Charlotte will get her belt back and main event WrestleMania 35.

Keri’s Verdict:  I’m a firm believer in karma and karma (not the wrestler, Kent) (Kent: But I really, really miss her!!!) is the word I would use to describe what happened to Charlotte on Smackdown. You break Asuka’s streak then you lose the title. It’s as simple as that. Even Becky didn’t come out and save Charlotte during that beating because catering had quinoa and it was good (check out Becky’s instagram to understand that reference). As for Carmella and the title, I could not be happier for her. She deserves the spotlight. I can’t wait to see what she does as champ. Now for the point for question two. Sorry Harper but Charlotte ended the streak and for that she needs to be karmically punished. But I admire your passion in sticking by Charlotte through all of this so I’ll give you a point for this question. (Kent: By the way, this may have been my favorite moment in wrestling in the past 5 years.  I needed to let everybody know just how much I cannot stand Charlotte.)

  1.  We had our usual post Wrestlemania debuts this week on RAW and Smackdown. Ember Moon, Authors of Pain, No Way Jose, and the Iconic Duo all debuted this week. Grade and discuss these debuts.

Anonyruss:  Ember Moon: Smart decision to bring her up I think she will add some excitement, hopefully, she will have a better run than she did in NXT.  Grade: A. AOP: I’m not a huge fan of Tokar and Razar, but I’ll give them a fair shot. Grade: C. No Way Jose: His debut was a party! Unfortunately, these types of acts never make it on the Main Roster.  So I say No Way, Jose, will make it very far with this gimmick. Grade: C- IIconics: This is the way you debut a group! Holy crap were they awesome and Charlotte was the perfect target. Grade: A+

Harper Lee:  Ember is an A- acquisition. She didn’t get a great run in NXT, in my opinion. She wasn’t given many great feuds, unfortunately. I would love to see her vs Naomi down the road. The 2 most athletic females in WWE.  AoP is an A as far as I am concerned. Those are 2 very big strong boys with excellent teamwork and a solid moveset. It would have been an A+ but getting rid of Ellering hurts their score. No Way Jose, OMG am I in love with this guy!  He is so much fun. I love what I have seen. But that is a problem, I haven’t seen much, so for fun factor and his potential, I will say a C+ with hopes that he is more like a B or B+. The Iconic Duo……oh they make me so mad! How is it fair to Flair to get a 2 on 1 beatdown and insulted?  I am giving them a B- because they probably have a bright future, but I do NOT like them one bit.

`Keri’s Verdict:  Ember Moon: Good call up. She is going to bring a little something extra to whatever women’s division she ends up in after next week’s shakeup. Grade: A. Authors of Pain: I’ll be honest I’ve seen these guys very little and usually only during Takeovers but what I have seen impresses me. This is a tag team you do not mess with and I think they might be just what the RAW tag team division needs (provided they survive the shakeup) Grade B+. No Way Jose: Honestly, I forgot that this guy was even employed by the company. That’s bad isn’t it? Oh well. I like the guys entrance music and he’s fun. Does he have longevity with this gimmick? I don’t know but I think Adam Rose maybe able to comment. Grade: C+ (the + is for the music. I just love it).  The Iconics: So, I’ll be honest I stopped watching NXT right around when this team was formed and I regret not seeing them develop their characters. These girls are great and I thoroughly enjoyed the beatdown they gave Charlotte when they arrived on Smackdown. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for the rest of the division. Grade: A+. Alright now for question number three’s point. This one is difficult because it seems like both Anonyruss and Harper bring up some very valid points. However, Harper gets the point here because our grading is pretty much the same and I think she will come around on the Iconics eventually.

  1.  We also had our post Wrestlemania returns this week as well. Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy, and Bobby Lashley all returned this week on RAW. Grade and discuss these returns.

Anonyruss:  Samoa Joe: Great to have him back.  His brutality and skill have been sorely missed.  Great to see he is picking up where he left off against Roman.  Grade: A. Jeff Hardy: Ok, I’ll admit that I didn’t think we’d see him on WWE again because of his DUI, but what the hell do I know.  I actually enjoyed his act on RAW. More of this Jeff HArdy Please. Grade: B Bobby Lashley: This is one serious hunk of man! I can’t believe that he wasn’t Russ’ Man Crush of the Week.  I loved him when he was in the WWE originally. I have heard he has only gotten better. I can’t wait to see. Grade: A+

Harper Lee:  Samoa Joe is a total jerk at times.  I respect that he usually backs up what he says.  A feud between him and Roman would be an epic Samoan feud, and I would love it.  So for that feud alone, I give Joe an A- mainly because I think that he is a jerk.  Bobby Lashley is somebody I don’t know too well. I have seen a bit of his work. I think his music is very bland and I simply wasn’t excited for him.  I know that he is supposed to be really talented, but he seems bland to me. I give him a C-. Finally, Jeff has returned!!! Yay!!!!!! I am so happy to have him back.  A+ easily. What else would you possibly give Brother Nero?

Keri’s Verdict:  Alright, let me start out by saying I’ve missed Samoa Joe. I didn’t realize until Monday night how much I really missed that guy. That promo he cut on Roman was spot on. I’m so glad he’s back. Grade: A. Jeff Hardy: Given recent events, his return surprised me but I guess everyone deserves a second chance. And I have to say I like the dynamic with him, Bray, and Matt in that backstage segment. I’m interested to see where that goes. Grade: B  Lashley: Talk about the worst kept return secret of the week. Who didn’t see this guy coming back at some point post-Wrestlemania? With that said, we finally have someone who can put Brock Lesnar hopefully out to pasture once we get the fruit roll up off of him. And that is what I’m most excited about with this return. Grade: A.  Alright let’s get to this question’s point. It looks like Anonyruss and I are on the same page here so he gets the point.

  1.  The RAW and Smackdown after Wrestlemania shows are usually must see TV. Grade and discuss this week’s shows. Who won the week in your opinion?

Anonyruss:  RAW: Overall this was an interesting show.  Lots of returns and call ups to keep up entertained.  However, nothing new was really established and that is also one of the best hallmarks of the RAW after Mania.  I’m sure because of the Shake-up they didn’t want to establish anything new, but a few new stories would have been nice.  Grade: B+ Smackdown: This week felt like typical with a few exception. One, the debut of the IIconics and Charlotte losing the belt to The F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S one.  This was great! Also, heel Shinsuke is best Shinsuke! I guess the match with Daniel Bryan and AJ was pretty good as well. Grade: B

Harper Lee:  RAW had 4 debuts and 3 returns.  Smackdown had 1 debut and no returns.  I know that math was never my strong suit, but last I checked, 7 is greater than 1.  RAW killed it this week. Smackdown felt very disappointing after all of the RAW excitement.  WWE should have spaced this out better. And where is Sanity? I have been told to expect these guys and nothing!!!

Keri’s Verdict:  RAW positives: Debuts and returns. Main event. RAW negatives: Stephanie and Ronda to open the show and whiny Roman. Grade: B. Smackdown positives:  Paige as Smackdown GM, Carmella as women’s champ, debut of the Iconics, heel Nakamura, and Styles vs Bryan (I want to see this again without commercials). Smackdown negatives: Same old same old in the number one contender matches for the tag team and US titles. Grade: A. Smackdown in my opinion was the better show. But it seems my colleagues did not agree with me so this question’s point will be award to the person who argued their point effectively. Anonyruss sold me with his response so he gets the point.

Bonus Time: Each week Anonyruss and Harper Lee will choose a topic that hasn’t been discussed in this week’s blog.  In the event of a tie after 5 questions, Keri will use these extra thoughts to help her declare a winner.

Anonyruss:  This week on Ronda Roundup.  Again no questions asked about the greatest women’s athlete in the WWE.  This blog has begun to slide downhill. Fortunately, I’ll keep the integrity by reporting about the most amazing athlete in WWE:  Ronda Rousey. This week she kicked off RAW with Stephanie and by-golly they did a bang up job. Steph is a fantastic foil for Rousey and they showed why on RAW.  Steph really knows how to sell. I mean she was in the arm bar for 10 seconds and she was acting like her arm was broken! Way to make Rousey look unstoppable! This was great stuff and I’ll continue to report on it here until it becomes a question in the normal 5!  Ronda Roundup for the win!

Harper Lee:  Can we please get Daniel Bryan and Miz on the same show?  I don’t ask for much, but I really want to see this.

Keri’s Final Verdict:  Congrats to Anonyruss on this week’s win.

Final Thoughts:

Anonyruss:  Long week of wrestling.  Glad it is finally done and things will slow down a bit… What next week is the WWE Roster Shake-up? …. Poop.

Harper Lee:  Boy, I am exhausted by wrestling this week.  Time to get caught up on my favorite soap opera, Days of Our Lives.

Keri:  Wow, I have wrestling burnout. After Supercard, some of Takeover, most of Mania, some of RAW, and all of Smackdown, I’m really spent. Then this week we also had the finale (episode 100) of Being the Elite, and that really put a rather sad cherry on top of an already full wrestling filled sundae. But next week, I’m going to NXT live here in DC so that should cheer me right up. So, expect a full report next week everyone.  (Kent: Wait a second.  So you watched everything else in it’s entirety except the one show, TakeOver, that was the best thing out of the 5 days?  And you are grading these people?  That smells like an F for Failure to watch great, relevant wrestling.)

Kent:  Yes, I think for Asuka, while Charlotte’s will be a little fancier but mainly the same.

Will victory come via pin or submission?

Russ:  Submission

Kent:  Both of them are submission specialist, but WWE won’t want either to look weak.  Pin.

  1. Undertaker vs John Cena

Is this match actually happening?

Russ:  Yes, they have totally set this up to happen.

Kent:  Yes, if not, I am rioting.

How do they set this up for the match to start?

Russ:  Cena comes out talks about loving this as a fan, probably during someone else segment.  Thats when the lights go dark and Taker comes out.

Kent:  I thought it would be during an Elias segment, but with the Rock rumored to be in attendance, Elias is the perfect person to be on the mic with The Rock.  I think you need to have Cena make the save after a post match beatdown. That sounds perfect for after the Daniel Bryan match because there should be a post match beatdown, I suspect.  That or possibly either tag team championship match.

Will Taker look good or bad in the ring, considering we have seen him both ways recently?

Russ:  I’ll wager better than last year.

Kent:  Better than you would expect, but the match shouldn’t be too action packed allowing him to perform.  But I suspect Taker to be rusty.

Who gets the win?

Russ:  Taker because I don’t think Cena needs to win this.

Kent:  I don’t want to say it.  I can’t. I won’t. I’d rather be wrong than disloyal, so Taker.

What is the finisher?

Russ:  Tombstone

Kent:  Escape from AA into Tombstone.

Bonus Deuce

  1.  Smackdown World Championship Match – AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Will either gentleman have a special entrance?

Russ:  No, nothing more than normal special.

Kent:  Shinsuke seems likely, so yes.

What match # on the main card will this appear?  There’s 11 unless the Rock has an impromptu match.

Russ:  10, right before Roman and Brock

Kent:  9

Will this be the match of the night?

Russ:  This is definitely going to be up there.  There are several matches that could steal the title, but this will be one of the few that will be given the time it deserves.  So this has the best chance.

Kent:  There are so many good matches, it’s like do you take the one that should be or do you take the field that features Cena vs Taker, that IC match is stacked, SD tag title match could all steal the show.  I am going to say no..

What will be the finishing move?

Russ:  Kinshasa (sp?)

Kent:  Styles Clash

Winner?

Russ:  Nakamura:  great time to pass the torch, while AJ goes to a show that isn’t a sinking ship.

Kent:  AJ Styles.  I am over thinking this match, but Royal Rumble winners are practically a 50/50 chance now of winning and they have not been treating Shinsuke like the star he is.  Plus if you keep the belt on AJ, he can keep saying that Smackdown is the house that AJ Styles built.

  1. RAW Red Belt Championship Match – Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns

Any special entrances?

Russ: No

Kent:  No

Who comes out first?

Russ:  Roman

Kent:  Roman should

Will this match go longer than 15 minutes?

Russ:  No

Kent:  Yes

Will Brock turn purple?

Russ:  Yes (within the first 5 minutes.)

Kent:  Yes

How many superman punches will we see connect?

Russ:  5

Kent:  7

How many German suplexes will we see?

Russ:  12

Kent:  8

How many F5’s will succeed?

Russ:  2

Kent:  2

How many spears will we see?

Russ:  5 (2 from Brock and 3 from Roman)

Kent:  3

What will be the finishing move?

Russ:  Spear after about 3 Superman Punches

Kent:  Spear because Brock is susceptible to that move, just ask old Whisker Biscuit

Will this be Brock Lesnar’s final WWE match for the foreseeable future, meaning he isn’t resigning with WWE right now?

Russ:  Yes, he’s done.

Kent:  No, he’s resigning

Final Thoughts – Quick Hits

  1.  Match of the Night?

Russ:  I want to say the IC title match, but I have a feeling they won’t be given enough time to shine properly.  So I’m going with Nak and AJ

Kent:  IC Title Match

  1. Worst match of the night on main card?

Russ:  RAW Women’s match: They won’t be given any time

Kent:  RAW women’s match or the Ronda match both sound awful.

  1. Shortest match of the night?

Russ:  Alexa vs Nia

Kent:  Alexa vs Nia

  1. Which match will we say deserved to have more time at the end of the night?

Russ:  IC Title Match

Kent:  AJ vs Shinsuke

  1.  Which match will have been given too much time?

Russ:  Asuka vs Charlotte

Kent:  Asuka vs Charlotte

  1.  Will this night be memorable for anything beyond Daniel Bryan’s return to the ring?

Russ: I’m sure, but I couldn’t tell you.  There are a lot of good things that this Mania is bringing to the table.  However, Since it is New Orleans the host of the worst Mania decisions this could be memorable for the wrong reasons.

Kent:  Asuka’s streak ending, Daniel turning heel, Cena vs Taker, Stephanie’s major injury, Hogan, Rock

  1. Any surprise appearances aside from the Rock?

Russ:  Samoa Joe, maybe and of course some Legends

Kent:  Samoa Joe and somebody like Big Show and maybe Sanity gets called up for something.  To kill Daniel, Sami, and KO.

  1.  Will The Rock be there?

Russ:  Yes

Kent:  Yes

  1. Will this be the best Mania of the past 5 years?

Russ: Yes, I mean it doesn’t have very stiff competition to beat.

Kent:  Without a doubt…..oh it’s in New Orleans….fuck…..yes…maybe.

  1. Who will interrupt Elias’ performance?

Russ:  Probably The Rock

Kent:  It could be so many people, but the Rock makes the most sense.

The Wrestling 9 Deuce – March 26 & 27, 2018 – Miz is Better Than Perfect

Welcome everybody to another week of the Wrestling 9 Deuce.  I am your host, Kent.  This week, The Miz almost had it out with his Miztourage, Brock continues to make Roman his bitch, Sasha and Bayley finally broke up, Daniel revealed his match for Mania, and Cena mocked Taker more.

  1.  There was a MizTV segment where it looked like for a second the Miztourage was going to implode and then it did not. Discuss this segment.

Anonyruss:  I liked this segment. It has been a long time since we got smart heels playing the faces like fools. It is good to let your bad guys get the upper hand every once in awhile to keep us invested in them.  Too many times this past year (or more) WWE has made the heels stupid or their tactics so obviously underhanded that it is groan inducing. This in turn makes the heels weak. This one segment helped give The Miz a push giving us a chance to second guess who is going to win at Mania.

Harper Lee:  Bo was so funny in this segment, he made me want to Bo-lieve all over again.  It was short lived. I will admit, the part that got me is when Miz brought up Mr. Perfect.  You just don’t DO THAT!!! I wanted punch MIz in the face for that one. It was fun seeing Mr. Abs and Flamer Pants having a good laugh.  More importantly, how great is that match going to be next week. I am soooo excited, and I just can’t hide it. I feel like Jessie Spano.

Keri’s Verdict:  The Miz shows week after week why he is the best heel in the company. This was a fantastically well done segment. Now to award a point for question one. Anonyruss made a good point. WWE over the past year has made its heels look weak and for that he gets the point. We need strong heels that we can boo with confidence.

  1.  Brock beat up Roman for the second week in a row. How are you liking the build for this match?

Anonyruss:  Color me a shade of kinda bored.  WWE is trying to make Roman a sympathetic figure and someone who shows up!  Smart idea, but poor execution. The beatdowns have been too mild. He should be getting destroyed. Although, if that were to happen then the fans would probably go ape shit for it and it would backfire.  Man, Roman can’t win no matter what he does. He gets beat up they cheer for more. He gives us great matches he gets booed. They try to compromise and give him enough of a beatdown to satisfy the haters, but end up boring the rest of us who consider Roman to be adequate.  Sucks to be Roman. That is until next Sunday when he wins the Red Title and that causes even more of a backlash. YAY Wrestling!

Harper Lee:  I feel like the WWE is trying to make me feel an emotion for Roman here, and my God, they nailed it!  Poor Roman, with his suspension and the beatdown. It’s not fair! I just want Roman to overcome the odds and vanquish the beast and make him his bit……I can’t say that, but you know what I was going to say.  I will take the man with wet hair any day over a purple people eater! I would like to see the Purple People Eater face the Eater of Worlds. What a great feud that could be!

Keri’s Verdict:  Ok, I’m going to say something that is going to shock everyone. I actually like the build for this feud. WWE is booking this correctly. Brock is supposed to look like the unstoppable heel in this match and Roman has to look like the struggling babyface. It’s about time they kinda sorta tried to get the crowd behind Roman. With that said, seems like Harper agrees with me so for that she gets the point.

  1.  Well it finally happened. The female version of the Mega Powers have exploded. Discuss the Bayley-Sasha segment.

Anonyruss:  Man what a beat down both these girls delivered.  Vicious doesn’t begin to describe how it looked as those girls slammed each other into the lockers behind them.  Kind of felt like a school yard cat fight. Still they did a great job. I have to admit I kinda feel bad that this feud is going to be relegated to the Women’s Battle Royal, but Mania is already jam packed to the point of overdone.  I’m sure we will see a lot more from this feud in the coming months, but it is a shame that it doesn’t get its finale at Mania.

Harper Lee:  I feel so conflicted.  I have been on both Bayley and Sasha’s sideline cheering them on.  I don’t know what to say here. The thing is, if I think about this logically, Sasha is in the right here.  But I love hugs and I love Bayley and you can’t force me to pick against her. Also, haha Sasha, you lost in the MMC twice now!  That’s what you get! I am fired up this week.

Keri’s Verdict:  This implosion was inevitable. The chemistry between these two women is too good not to put them in a feud. Should they have waited until after Mania? Yes they should have. This implosion should have happened at the end of the battle royal. Oh well, I like where Anonyruss’ head is at on this question so for that he gets he point.

  1.  Daniel Bryan officially has a match at Wrestlemania. Discuss this announcement.

Anonyruss:  Obvious match is obvious?  I mean once he said he was returning to the ring I don’t think there was a doubt in anyone’s mind that he wouldn’t be getting a match at Mania.  Also, you had to figure it would involve Shane or KO and Sami in some way. The only thing I’ll say is that I don’t like the stipulation of if KO and Sami win they are reinstated.  I guess in the long run at least it keeps us guessing as to who is going to win, but damn the best feel good moment you can have is Bryan pinning either KO or Sami for his first win, but if it cost those guys there jobs… That kinda sucks.

Harper Lee:  Doesn’t Shane have diverticulitis?  How is he supposed to fight with that disease?  I know that is what made Brock and Vince both stop having matches.  I know that is why Kent doesn’t exercise. The pain is that excruciating.  Shouldn’t Daniel find a better partner? I am just going to say, for one night only, if Shane can’t come out, if Daniel had a new partner and Cult Of Personality played, I would be in Wrestling Havana…..I mean Heaven.  Half of my heart is in Havana ooooh na na.

Keri’s Verdict:  So, I want a show of hands. Who didn’t see this announcement coming once he was cleared? Oh, put your hand down Kent.  (Kent: Fine!)   It think it’s great we are going to see him at Mania in a ring. And maybe we can finally get some closure on this storyline so we can all move on. That is all I want this upcoming Mania weekend. Closure on storylines (yeah I’m also looking at you Cody and Kenny) so I can move forward. And now for this question’s point. Again, I’m liking where Anonyruss’ heads at so one point for Anonyruss.

  1.  Let’s discuss the build for Nakamura vs Styles. Are you enjoying this or could they have done more?

Anonyruss:  Well if AJ is indeed injured then I am not sure you can do too much more than they are already doing.  Nakamura is playing some great mind games with AJ. Plus, let’s face it, This match doesn’t need much in the way of build up. This is one of those matches that we have been waiting for.  One might even say it is going to be phenomenal. Not me, I don’t like to use the word phenomenal. Too hard to spell. So I will go with amazing!

Harper Lee:  I want to see some blood.  No, I’m just kidding. What is there to say to build up this match?  I am a firm believer that sometimes a match is so big and so important that the first match doesn’t need much of a build.  You leave that for rematches to keep the story fresh. As a fan, if you need more to get excited for AJ vs Shinsuke then you are a monosyllabic speaking troglodyte.  I love this new word a day calendar!

Keri’s Verdict:  I’m conflicted on the build for this match. For me, I’m familiar enough with NJPW to know why this match is a big deal and that fans at Mania are in for something special. With that said, the casual fan does not know the history between these two so a build that played to that would helped those fans out a little. I’m going to award Harper a point here because she may have proved what I just said wrong. Maybe the “causal” fan does understand after all.

Bonus Time: Each week Anonyruss and Harper Lee will choose a topic that hasn’t been discussed in this week’s blog.  In the event of a tie after 5 questions, Keri will use these extra thoughts to help her declare a winner.

Anonyruss:  Did anyone else notice how amazing Ronda is?  I mean she destroyed Absolution! People saying that she is dangerous just don’t know how hard it is for her to keep her MMA background in check.  If these ladies can’t stand the heat they need to get out of Chef Ronda’s kitchen. If you smell what she is cooking!

Harper Lee:  Are we ever going to see Bray Wyatt again?  I miss him in the weirdest way. Is he deleted?  Is he an obsolete mule? Is Michael Cole going to go for a swim soon enough?  Can we sign Senior Benjamin to a contract? Seriously, Wrestlemania is New Orleans.  WWE, don’t WWE the heck out of this. Do the right thing, please! I am now going to listen to the original and best version of House of the Rising Sun in honor of Bray.

Keri’s Final Verdict:  Congrats to Anonyruss on this week’s win.

Final Thoughts:

Anonyruss:  I just farted.  It felt great! I had been holding it in because I’m writing this in a coffee shop (gotta stay Anonyruss as much as possible!)  I just couldn’t hold it anymore and let it rip. Sure a lot of people gave me the stank eye, but man did I give them a stink that was much worse!

Harper Lee:  Santa Clarita Diet is back and wow, they nailed it!  Kudos to them. It’s such a fun and quirky show. I hope NetFlix doesn’t Orange is the New Black this.  Just let the show maintain it’s humor. The Elias Snickers commercial was amazing this week.

Keri:  Three weeks left of double classes. This is almost over. Then, two more weeks after that and I can return to my hosting duties on Are You Not Kentertained? That is if Russ and Kent want me back and you, the fans, really do miss me. I know miss you all and can’t wait to be back. (Kent: I miss shorter podcasts.  And the next 2 weeks are about 9+ hours of wrestling this weekend.  Sigh.)

The Wrestling 9 Deuce – March 19 & 20 – Daniel Bryan is BACK!

Welcome everybody to another week of the Wrestling 9 Deuce.  I am your host, Kent.  This week, Daniel Bryan got cleared to return to the ring.  Yes, yes, I told you all that this would happen months ago on the podcast and in these very pages of the blog.  Gloating aside, we got to see WWE’s attempt at Total Deletion as well Brock destroy a handcuffed Roman Reigns.

  1.  So breaking news, Daniel Bryan is now clear to compete in a WWE ring. Discuss this huge news story.

Anonyruss:  Wow, this is big news!  Kent called it last week on the podcast, but I can’t believe it would happen this quickly.  I am happy for him, I felt genuinely bad for him when he was forced to retire way back in 2016.  I thought for sure we would never get to see him in the ring again. Which was a shame, because WWE was starting to get some of the best talent in the world.  Now we have tons of dream matches we can look forward to. I have a feeling wrestling is going to be great this year. Welcome back Daniel!

Harper Lee:  This sounds amazing.  I genuinely am happy that he is back.  I will keep this short. Daniel, please don’t keep your risky in ring style.  Leave that for the young guys trying to prove themselves. There is no need to ever do a diving headbutt ever again.  Welcome back you bearded wonder. I’m so jealous of Bri. Maybe I’ll stop watching Total Bellas……nah, I can’t do that.

Keri’s Verdict:  Like Edge’s retirement speech, Daniel Bryan’s retirement speech two years ago was difficult for me to watch. With that said though, I’m glad that Daniel Bryan has another chance to do what he loves and I’m excited about the potential matchups that this will mean for the fans. This is just amazing for everyone involved. Now to award points. Given the circumstances, I think everyone here is a winner here so everyone gets a point.

  1.  We all got to see Ultimate Deletion Monday night on RAW. Give me your thoughts on this.

Anonyruss:  Ok I was a big fan of this when they did it on TNA.  I usually don’t stray from WWE, but I’ll catch stuff that has the internet a buzz or even former WWE guys.  So that had both for me. Anyway, back to Monday night’s main event. All I can say was… WOW, this was fantastic.  I mean I didn’t expect it to be a horrible trainwreck, but this knocked it out of the park! The wrestling was great Vanguard 1 was great.  The stunts were fantastic! Best of all we got to see the Mower of Lawns and Chair of wheels! I’m not exactly sure where they are going to go after this, but sign me up for the next one!

Harper Lee:  I don’t get it.  Kent insisted that I watch these matches that they had in TNA, so I did.  God he is annoying. Anyway, I thought that what they accomplished in TNA was refreshing and fun.  It was always something different and unique. Whatever happened on Monday felt soulless. I don’t know if they were restricted by WWE, if they planned some stuff but couldn’t carry them out, maybe they wanted to start small and hope that people would want more.  Instead, I felt like they went through the motions. I wanted more King Maxell and Senior Benjamin. I loved the dress Reby was wearing though. I understand that she filmed and edited a lot of it, and props to her. I just didn’t like this one. I’m sorry, I wanted to.  I feel bad for Bray. I wish they would film a match at my family’s compound. That would be amazing!!!

Keri’s Verdict:  Overall, I thought this was a well-done piece of cinematography. I wouldn’t mind seeing this again. With that said, I like Anonyruss’ positivity this week on this question so one point for him.

  1.  John Cena insulted the Undertaker and then had to deal with Kane. How are you liking the build to this potential match?

Anonyruss:  I’m torn on this.  I do like seeing John Cena, but usually only when he wrestles.  He tends to ramble when he is just on the mic. Still, I liked dejected Cena all the way up to Fastlane.  I also like how they show him fail, but he keeps getting back up and trying again. This is a great message to show the kids.  Even if you fail, you need to keep going. Now that we know the true direction of Cena’s road to WrestleMania it’s gotten kind of blah.  Kane coming out and choke slamming Cena feels a little old hat. Oh well, I’m sure I’ll be marking out when Taker finally comes out and answers Cena’s pleas.

Harper Lee:  I like this a lot.  Cena is really good on the mic, whether you love him or hate him, you can’t deny that.  This story actually makes some sense. Goldust……that didn’t make sense. But Kane defending his brother’s honor, I like that.  This has been one of the better, original ideas for a story, and I sincerely applaud WWE for this one. I cannot wait for Cena to Rest In Peace.  Sorry Cena, but nobody is better than The Undertaker. Oh crap, it’s in New Orleans. Hmmmm, Taker, maybe you should sit this one out and come back next year.

Keri’s Verdict: Ah yes, the most tired, overplayed storyline currently in wrestling. Come on now. You are John Cena, you want a match with Taker at Mania then you are probably going to get a match at Mania with the Taker. Why you ask? Because you do not say no to the Cena and the Cena is not left off the card at Wrestlemania. Can we please stop with this nonsense?  Anyways, Anonyruss is on fire this week with the positivity and I find that great so another point for him.

  1.  Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were fired on Smackdown this week and beat up Daniel Bryan. Discuss where this is headed.

Anonyruss:  This is one of those angles you really have to suspend your belief in reality.  If they were fired on Tuesday, by Thursday we would have heard TNA or Lucha Underground would have picked these guys up.  Ok, so maybe I’m the one who is crazy, like those two could afford these guys. Anyway I am pretty sure this is leading to Shane and Daniel vs Sami and KO. at Mania.  I’m fine with this. It will be a great match to get Daniel back into the swing of things.

Harper Lee:  Straight to the unemployment line, suckas!!!  I think Booker T would be proud of me. But seriously, I am glad that they got fired.  I was on their side against Shane in a lot of ways because I felt Shane was incredibly underhanded with them.  Like they deserved each other in their own way. Daniel was just doing his job, and on such a happy night, for them to do that, and for Kevin to keep screaming for some reason, nope, not a fan.  Enjoy the indies, you scrubs, and no I don’t want no Scrubs.

Keri’s Verdict:  I have a question about this storyline. Actually, wait I have two questions. First, is this finally the payoff and set up for the match at Mania? Also, can we finally be done with this after Mania? I can’t take this storyline anymore. With that said, one point to Anonyruss. He was on point with his response to this question.

  1.  There was dark segment Dana Brooke and Ronda Rousey on RAW. Discuss this segment.

Anonyruss:  This was amazing!  Ronda Rousey is a beast!  Did you see the way she tossed Dana?  Brutal! I encourage you to watch this.  Wow, Stephanie is going to get brutalized and it will be great to watch.  Dana was great as a heel, but it was weird seeing her all of a sudden being heel-ish.  I mean she was a statistician for Titus Brand just a few weeks ago (at least the last time we saw her.)  Now she is evil. She did well. However, I am sold on Ronda. WWE you don’t have to do anymore except keep on putting her on my TV.

Harper Lee:  I am so confused why Dana is so mean.  Is Titus Worldwide not making millions of dollars because they lost so much to the Bar?  She actually wasn’t bad on the mic. Still, what was that girl thinking???? You don’t mouth off to the Rowdy one.  I felt so happy when Ronda forcibly stopped Dana’s one strike attempt. It was riveting stuff. I can’t wait to see how many strikes she blocks of Stephanie’s and just holds the arm there for 5 seconds.  Give me more, please!!!

Keri’s Verdict:  Am I the only one who watched that segment and saw if for what it was? Scary proof that Ronda is extremely green and should not be on the main roster yet. After watching that, I predict that within the next three months she is going to seriously injure someone. She has no idea how to safely do wrestling moves and it’s going to cost someone at least 6 months or more of their career if they step in the ring with her at this point. I know it can’t happen but if I were one of the women in the locker room I would refuse to work with her until she has had more training. She is reckless and I don’t think she gives a shit that she is and that is scary like Brock Lesnar scary. Yeah there is another one that is just as reckless but at least he has wrestling training. I fear for the women in the locker room and not in a good I can’t wait to see Ronda’s rise to the top kinda way. Anyways, time to award a point for this question. I’m going to award a point to Harper here because she pointed out the only thing that Ronda did correctly in this segment.

Bonus Time: Each week Anonyruss and Harper Lee will choose a topic that hasn’t been discussed in this week’s blog.  In the event of a tie after 5 questions, Keri will use these extra thoughts to help her declare a winner.

Anonyruss:  Did anyone else notice that Brock and Roman were going great until Brock tipped Roman over.  I don’t know it just fell flat after that. I thought for sure we were going to get something brutal instead Brock just left him there.  I think something was planned, but Roman came off the stretcher and Brock decided to abort because it would have been way too dangerous. I mean when Brock tipped Roman over I thought for sure Roman’s foot was Broken the way it hit the barricade.  Too bad, I was really enjoying the stuff before the fall.

Harper Lee:  Where in the name of Sam Hell is Elias?  I miss him singing to me!!! Also, how is Baron Corbin going to be on the kickoff show at Wrestlemania for the third straight year?  I can see why some of the hardcore fans get upset about part-timers in this regard. But if it results in Taker accepting Cena’s challenge, then suck it Baron.

Keri’s Final Verdict:  Congrats to Anonyruss on this week’s win.

Final Thoughts:

Anonyruss:  I love tacos!  (Kent: Huh, so do I.  We should hang out some time.)

Harper Lee:  I wish I could have afforded tickets.  New Orleans isn’t a terribly long drive from where I live.  But those tickets are so expensive. But at least I can watch it with my family.  Happy belated birthday to Daddy!!! He won’t read this.  Also, the movie Mohawk, starring Luke Harper was too bloody for my tastes, but he was very good in it.

Keri:  Things I hate: Having too much school work to do and being sick. Guess what happened this week? Yep, both of those things happened this week. Oh well at least I have NJPW Strong Style Evolved to look forward to this weekend. Oh, and I bought tickets to my first Ring of Honor show (the Best in the World PPV in June).

The Wrestling 9 Deuce – March 12 & 13, 2018 – SamiKO Are Reunited

Welcome everybody to another week of the Wrestling 9 Deuce.  I am your host, Kent.  This week, Braun became the #1 contender for the tag team championships, SamiKO got scheduled for a Mania match and promptly destroyed Shane, and Charlotte got owned on the mic by a person who still struggles with English.

  1.  Roman Reigns continued to deliver this week with his promo work and got a suspension for his troubles. Discuss the RAW opening.

Anonyruss:  This was an interesting way to take the Brock Roman feud.  Not sure how I feel about Roman and Brock not seeing each other until the week before Mania, but whatever, I’m just waiting for this feud to get over with. If WWE were smart they would use this suspension as an excuse to say that they punished Reigns for the whole steroid allegation.  Fake suspension for a fake sport that doesn’t matter if steroids are used or not.

Harper Lee:  How unfair is this??????  I can’t believe that Mr. McMahon would do something like this.  Roman Reigns works his tail off for the company every lousy week and he deserves to meet The Beast face to face, and instead, he gets punished!!!  I am so upset with this. This makes my blood boil. I hope Roman returns next week, but with it being indefinite, who knows how long he will be MIA.  Vince McMahon, you are very mean MAC Man.

Keri’s Verdict:  This storyline doesn’t do anything for me. Brock is a waste and should be gone. And really, he is not needed given the storyline. Anyways, point for question one awarded to Anonyruss. Fantasy booking or any suggestion of storyline improvement is always good.

  1.  Braun is now the number one contender for the RAW tag team championship. Discuss this and whether or not he will bring in a tag team partner.

Anonyruss:  While Braun is definitely the equivalent of two men, I don’t think that counts when it comes to the Tag Division.  Pretty sure he will need to have a partner. I think it might be a fun thing if the next couple weeks WWE stars keep trying to be Brauns partner, but Braun keeps doing Braun things to stop them.  Eventually, Elias comes in and gets to be his partner. They could make for a fun team.

Harper Lee:  Uhmmm, how does this work?  As much as I love Braun, even he’s not great enough to beat the RAW tag team champions.  He needs a partner. I am hoping that maybe his mentor will help him. Whether you agree with Bray’s tactics, he would be an excellent partner due to familiarity with Braun.  Plus Bray should be allowed to compete in front of his hometown. Maybe he could bring Sister Abigail with him. That would be soooo cool.

Keri’s Verdict:  While Braun probably could win the tag titles in a handicap match, I feel that this is a waste for him. They should be capitalizing on his popularity better. Really the belt should have been taken off of Brock long ago, put on Roman, and it should be Roman vs. Braun at Mania. But anyways, this is the match I really don’t care about for Mania so I don’t care who his partner is. I’m going to award the point to Anonyruss here because I think that this the direction he’s heading. Given his current level of popularity, sorry Harper but they could keep Braun as far as they can away from Bray.  (Kent: Why should they not utilize Braun’s popularity to get Bray over again to add to the main event scene?  Bray was a world champ a year ago.  Isn’t this exactly the thing that we bitch about, the WWE not utilizing it’s stars to make new stars?  Plus, you dismiss this match between 2 of the 10, if not 5 best acts of 2017.  I don’t understand dismissing this match but show so much love for a stagnant Shinsuke.)

  1.  It looks like we are finally getting our build for Wrestlemania. Cena finally issued a challenge to the Undertaker, Styles and Nakamura finally faced off, it looks like the US title, like the IC title will be defended in a triple threat, and we are getting Sami vs KO at Mania. Select one of these and discuss.

Anonyruss:  I think the Triple threat match for the IC title is going to be insane.  That is of course as long as it stays a triple threat. Nowadays who knows with the WWE.  By the time Mania rolls around it will probably be like a battle royal match of the belt. Still, Finn, Seth, and The Miz are the best things on RAW that aren’t names Ronda Rousey.

Harper Lee:  Wait, The Undertaker is still possibly around?  I thought he retired after Roman took over the yard last year.  What was that speech at RAW 25 about then? I am so confused. But if he will accept and we get him vs Cena, sign me up and take my money WWE.  I don’t really feel that AJ vs Shinsuke should have much of a build up. I think that we may see them feud for a long time, so maybe just let the match speak for itself.  I don’t think that Sami and KO are having that match anymore. Did you see what they did to Shane O’Mac. Why was Shane working backstage at RAW? Is that why he is stepping down as the commission of Smackdown.  Triple threats……so much to say. I’ll leave that to Anonyruss. One match excites me, and one doesn’t. The one with Mr. Abs, Finn Balor excites me, just to make that clear. I hope he extinguishes Mr. Hot Pants.

Keri’s Verdict:  We all know how I feel about Styles vs Nakamura so I’m not going to say anything more on that match. As for the IC title, that match will probably come in second for match of the night and third or forth for match of the weekend (depending what happens at Takeover). I still think Cody vs Omega is going to blow everything out the water that weekend. Given the storyline build and the fact it looks like, at this point, those two guys are pretty much going to kill each other just screams match of the weekend to me (but then again I’m biased).  As for the other potential Mania matches, I’ve seen Sami vs KO live and in person already so I don’t really care. Cena vs Taker, I just feel that is too little too late but it should be decent. And the US title, it will be an ok match, I’m just not that excited about it. And now for the question three point. I’m awarding this point to Harper. I’m in agreement with her. This whole Undertaker thing is confusing. Just let the man retire already will you?

  1.  Alexa and Mickie picked on Nia this week which lead to a Nia rampage and we had a Charlotte and Asuka face off. Discuss the current storylines for the women’s titles.

Anonyruss:  Nia’s rampage was genius!  Her anger was amazing. I’ve seen wrestlers emulate anger, but Nia takes the cake!  I love everything WWE is doing with Nia, Mickie, and Alexa. Alexa and Mickie trying to escape was hilarious.  On to more serious matters on Smackdown. Charlotte and Asuka are off to a great start. Charlotte is a Queen! I love how she keeps mentioning how Iron sharpens Iron.  It is very poetic. Asuka is getting better out there during promo time and I can’t wait to see these two fight each other. Charlotte has been a great champion, but it is time for Asuka.

Harper Lee:  I have always found myself liking Alexa and I really think highly of Mickie.  I am just so mad at how mean they were. I cannot believe that Alexa has been using Nia all along.  DO you follow them on Twitter or Instagram? They are always in pictures together. They are so close.  I cannot believe that Alexa would do this. I hate to say it, but I am officially on Team Nia for this one.  I wanted her to get her mitts on Little Miss Bliss and Marty Jannetty her. How dumb were those buffoons not realizing the mic was on.  Haha, idiots!! As for the other feud, Charlotte is currently the best in the business. Heck, if you don’t believe me, just ask WWE or ask the GOAT, Ric Flair.  Then there is the Empress of Tomorrow. Tomorrow may be coming sooner than later. Charlotte has shown that she can be overconfident and underestimate her opponent, which is how Sasha toppled her many times.  Gosh, I am starting to believe that nobody better than Asuka. She is so cute. I went to dye my eyebrows like she does. Ohhhhh, Daddy was livid! He made me shave my eyebrows and now i have to draw them on until they grow back the way they were meant to be.  I learned my lesson.

Keri’s Verdict:  The RAW women’s storyline right now is pretty much genius. I’m really enjoying it. Here is the potential problem that I see with Charlotte vs Asuka. Not only was this match up predictable, it also foreshadows the potential end of Asuka’s streak. Given how high the company is on Charlotte, do not think for a second that won’t happen. Yeah, Asuka will probably win the title but the fact that Charlotte is the one that is going to end the streak is still in the back of my mind. With that said, I’m going to award the point to Anonyruss here. He’s right it’s time for Asuka but I’m also worried that like all good streaks that tend to end in New Orleans. I think hers maybe, as well.

  1.  While we are on the subject of women’s wrestling, The Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal was announced for WrestleMania this week. Discuss this announcement.

Anonyruss:  Why did they have to change the name?  Was Moolah mean? Well, a lot of people were crappy people back then.  That was the way of the business. If you felt she was mean it isn’t like you couldn’t have just left and gone to someone else!  She was one of the first women that got me interested in women wrestlers. I feel like Ronda is the next Moolah. Intense, strong and doesn’t take crap from anyone.  I’m glad that WWE is finally giving the women a battle royal at Mania, but it feels like Mania is starting to get a little full of special matches. Soon we won’t have any time left for regular matches.

Harper Lee:  I was so excited about this.  Then I read some things on the internet that are not very nice about Moolah.  I am happy that the women are getting an opportunity. I really am. I think it may have been in better taste to possibly name it after some other legend like Sensational Sherri or even Trish Stratus who never has any negative publicity.  I don’t want to speak on the allegations, but if true, the name should be changed. Women shouldn’t be taking advantage of other women. We gotta stick together, not pimp each other out.

Keri’s Verdict:  If you look back at a good portion of the women that have come through the WWE, there are skeletons in a lot of those closets. It just seems the time that we live in dictated this week that we pay attention not to what Moolah did for women in the industry but her extracurricular activities. I’m not dismissing what she did because quite frankly women should not be treated in that matter but I also feel that we as a society are too damn sensitive. With that said, I’m awarding a point to Harper here because she’s right they could have renamed this after a woman that didn’t have so many skeletons in her closet.

Bonus Time: Each week Anonyruss and Harper Lee will choose a topic that hasn’t been discussed in this week’s blog.  In the event of a tie after 5 questions, Keri will use these extra thoughts to help her declare a winner.:

Anonyruss:  Man wrestling was full of interesting twists this week, but one thing that really disappointed me this week was the fact that Ronda wasn’t on RAW.  I get it she had to get tests and other things done, but not having them move her story forward this week really felt like a huge gap. She got the video treatment this week, which I guess is fine, but she needs to get back and continue to improve and become the best.

Harper Lee:  This year’s Wrestlemania has me legitimately excited.  It’s my first year being genuinely invested in the product, and I just cannot wait.  So happy for Kid Rock too. I know that he is from Detroit, but he does Southern Rock proud and for that, I salute him!  That song he did that Undertaker used was quite uhhhhh, ah screw it, bad a$$. There, I said it!

Keri’s Final Verdict:  Congrats to Anonyruss on this week’s win.

Final Thoughts:

Anonyruss:  I hear New Japan is trying to give a cup away or something?  I don’t know. I’m a WWE homer so I don’t really pay attention to other stuff.  However, I see that Keri and Harper are both talking about it here so I didn’t want to be left out.  I hope this cup is worth it. I’m going to pick Sanada cause I like music.

Harper Lee:  Much like Keri, I made first round picks for the New Japan Cup.  I got Bad Luck Fale and Zack Sabre Jr right because I mostly picked names that I could pronounce.  I am not good at picking apparently. Oh well.

Keri:  So, here is my New Japan Cup update. So, for first round picks, I went 6 for 8. So not too bad, I guess. Unfortunately, my school work has prevented me from watching the tournament but there is a list of matches I plan to check out once school is over.  With that said, here are my picks for the quarterfinals: Match 1: Michael Elgin vs Juice Robinson (Pick: Juice); Match 2: Bad Luck Fale vs Hiroshi Tanahashi (Pick: Tanahashi); Match 3: Kota Ibushi vs Zack Sabre Jr (Pick: Ibushi and this will be match of the quarterfinals); and Match 4: Toru Yano vs Sanada (Pick: Sanada). So I have Juice Robinson facing Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kota Ibushi facing Sanada in the semi-finals and my pick for the finals are Juice Robinson vs. Kota Ibushi with Ibushi picking up the win. (Update: Well, my picks went sideways. Like UMBC in the NCAA college basketball tournament, Zack Sabre Jr. pretty much ruined what was left of my “bracket” for the New Japan Cup. I’m interested to see what he does against Tanahashi in the finals and hope that he is, in fact, winning this thing).

The Wrestling 9 Deuce – March 5 & 6, 2018 – Symphony of Destruction..Amazing

Welcome everybody to another week of the Wrestling 9 Deuce.  I am your host, Kent.  This week, we gained some momentum to Wrestlemania, well RAW did at least.  Smackdown is stuck in neutral while trying to get in the Fast Lane.  I hate myself for saying that.

  1.  This week on RAW Nia faced Asuka again, Asuka won again, and Alexa kind of comforted Nia on said lost and the fact that as of right now she is not going to Mania. Discuss this storyline.

Anonyruss:  This was amazing wrestling!  I don’t know why the ladies get crapped on so much.  I am really beginning to think that the women are the best part of WWE.  This match was crisp clean and brutal. Best of all it told a great story.  Nia trying desperately to get out of the armbar and Asuka holding on like a tick in summertime was great emotional storytelling.  However, Little Miss Bliss really stole the show. I like how she is no nonsense tell it like it is. I wish I had a friend like her when I was growing up to tell me about all my flaws.

Harper Lee:  I was just so impressed with Nia this week.  I can’t believe that she’s not even going to get a match at Wrestlemania.  It’s really sad. Nia should be put in the Women’s championship match with Asuka and Alexa.  Let’s make it a threesome! Or triple threat. Or three-way dance. So many ways to say it. Asuka is so good, but I felt that Nia is on the cusp of solving the riddle that is Asuka.  Great story here.

Keri’s Verdict:  As I said last week, the RAW women are the greatest storyline going in the WWE right now. The matches and the storytelling by the women involved have been spot on and, as I said last week, I’m very intrigued. My only criticism is how they handled, if it is in fact handled, the storyline of Asuka choosing her opponent for Mania. It seems rushed which doesn’t go along with what we are currently seeing in the division. Anyways, time to award a point for this week’s first question. I have to say Anonyruss is starting out this week pretty much spot on with his first answer so I will award him a point.

  1.  We saw two new Wrestlemania matches get booked this week on RAW. We have a triple threat match for the IC title and Angle and Rousey vs. Stephanie and Triple H. Which one of these matchups excites you the most and why?

Anonyruss:  well as much as I love Seth, Finn and The Miz.  I am way more excited about what’s going on with Ronda Rousey.  I was a little worried at first when she entered the WWE. I mean the sign pointing at the Rumble was beyond groan-inducing.  However the past two weeks she has really proven she has potential. This week she was amazing. Loved how she saved Kurt from getting smacked.  I also like how she wasn’t playing games with Stephanie when Stephanie asked for a drumroll. Ronda didn’t even bother to wait for the drumroll. She is all business.  I loved it. She is quickly becoming a favorite. I can’t wait to see her wrestle! Wrestlmania can’t get here fast enough.

Harper Lee:  Hmmm, a match featuring 2 all-time legends with bald heads, or a match with a guy wearing flaming pants.  That is a tough decision. As you know by now, I like my men with hair and beards usually. Bald men…..eh, they just don’t do it for me.  I hope Kent isn’t reading this. (Kent: Yeah, I am, thanks.)  The other match has Finn.  As long as Finn has those abs, please sign me up.  Also, how good did Curtis and Bo look this week? Very dapper!  Also, Ronda is a total bad girl, but she doesn’t quite seem right.  Something is off. I honestly think she would be better as a heel.

Keri’s Verdict:  Well just the subject of Ronda makes me start talking about the state of the Bullet Club. And as we all know that takes me to a very dark place so I will not even address it. As for the triple threat with Seth, Finn, and the Miz, this match has the match of the night potential written all over it again provided they leave it as it is right now. But they won’t and it will be disappointing. At least I’m watching Supercard of Honor the night before so I’ll be ok. Anyways time to award a point. I agree with Harper here and as a result, she gets the point. Ronda is being booked incorrectly and despite, what I feel are her best efforts,  she looks incredibly green out there. She looks like a fan that is trying to be a wrestler and its cringe-worthy to watch. Oh darn it I said I wasn’t going to talk about her.

  1.  RAW gave us the first time ever (and possibly historic) Symphony of Destruction match between Elias and Braun. Discuss this match.

Anonyruss:  I’ll be honest this didn’t do much for me.  Yes, Elias trying to escape before the match was hilarious, but Braun just wasn’t doing enough Braun things.  Holding up the back end of a car? Ho hum. Braun crushing a Cello on Elias’ back that was so two weeks ago. The piano thing was ok, but I was expecting more.  Elias looked great in that kimono though so there was that.

Harper Lee:  Time to earn a point.  Did you know that Megadeth had a song called “Symphony of Destruction”?  I bet you thought Corey was just a Megadeth fan, but there is the rub. Also, The Undertaker used to come out to the “Graveyard Symphony”.  Neither of these guys has an opponent at Mania. I think they are hinting at something. Also, this was the best thing I have seen on RAW in over a month, easily.  I loved it. Elias is the perfect opponent to play off of Braun. He’s everything Roman was, except Elias doesn’t need the wins, so Braun gets over, and Elias Kentertains the crowd.  Yes, Elias, you have reinvented WWE for the better, and Braun……oh Braun. Someday I will meet this muscley bearded man. I hope security doesn’t hit me too many times.

Keri’s Verdict:  It was a good match and I really like the chemistry these two guys have. It’s a great feud that I hope creative continues with since there are not enough one on one feuds out there. And now to award the point for this question. I like Harper’s attempt at seven degrees of separation and kinda wish she related it back somehow to Kevin Bacon. But, in any case, she gets the point.

  1.  John Cena is trying to insert himself into the AJ Styles vs Nakamura match at Mania. Give me your thoughts on this possibility.

Anonyruss:  well I won’t lie if that triple threat match occurred I would be very very moist. I mean excited. It’s one of those matches that you know all three guys would put all their effort in to make a main event that would blow all other main events out of the water.  John’s reasoning to get to this point have been dumb, but it may be forgiven if we get this match. Plus how exciting will it be that John Cena will have that record-breaking 17th world championship?

Harper Lee:  I was talking to Kent a few nights ago, and he jokingly said that Cena was going to weasel his way into this amazing main event.  I instantly blew him off. Now the fear is really sinking in. Listen, I love Cena as much as anybody else does online. He’s a great guy.  I know that we all want this AJ vs Shinsuke match, but Cena could actually add a dimension to this match and it could be match of the year.  Shinsuke is very good, but he isn’t always great in the ring. Adding Cena could be a brilliant move.

Keri’s Verdict:  Why won’t creative give me the one thing that I ask for? I’m asking for a rematch between two amazing wrestlers that occurred back at Wrestle Kingdom 10. I heard Styles and Nakamura was amazing then and should be now. And I want to witness that greatness. Why do they constantly deny me (and a lot of the fans) what they want? It’s all because of Cena.  Cena,Cena,Cena. Anyone else feel like they are watching the Brady Bunch here? Oh well, at least I still have Cody vs Omega at Supercard to look forward to that weekend so go ahead add Cena I no longer care. Oh and one point for Harper.

  1. Let’s talk Tag Team Wrestling overall in the WWE. On RAW, we had the Revival lose to the Bar and now the Bar is issuing an open challenge to find an opponent for Mania. On Smackdown, the Uso and the New Day are wrestling this Sunday to see who have the title walking into Mania with their opponent for Mania TBD at this point.  Discuss these developments and also what matchups you would like for both brands at Mania.

Anonyruss:  The Bar doing what the Bar does, which is win, doesn’t surprise me. So the Revival losing was to be expected.  They are green and need more practice, but I think they show promise. Them issuing an open challenge for Mania is stupid.  The only way they are performing at Mania on the main card, is if they get lucky and WWE decides to do a multi-team tag championship.  No opponent they could face makes them good enough to be on anything other than the pre-show. As for Smackdown. Who cares until after this weekend’s match.  So I’m not going to speculate.

Harper Lee:  I am so upset about The Revival losing.  This is so dumb!!! I’m not talking about it.  Screw the points because my Southern gentlemen got got in a John Wilkes Booth-ian way.

Keri’s Verdict:  I’m a firm believer right now that RAW Creative is using all of its creativeness on the RAW women’s division and I not sure where Smackdown’s creativeness is going. But one thing is for sure neither booking team cares about the tag team division right now. That’s really all I have because I want to be as lazy as they are right now. And with that one point to Anonyruss. He really is on point with his response.

Bonus Time: Each week Anonyruss and Harper Lee will choose a topic that hasn’t been discussed in this week’s blog.  In the event of a tie after 5 questions, Keri will use these extra thoughts to help her declare a winner.

Anonyruss:  Did anyone else notice that Roman is getting more and more cheers.  Are WWE fans really that easy to manipulate? If you hated him because he is being shoved down your throat, then stick to your convictions damnit.  Just because now you hate Brock because he is super part time and has lost his luster doesn’t mean you can jump on the Roman train. Just hate the whole match and be done with it.

Harper Lee:  Is Sasha and Bayley the best storyline that WWE has to offer at the moment?  How great is this? Also, how great does Mickie look in leather? She’s a southern girl like me.  Maybe I should try to rock the leather. Yeah! Seriously, if they do a Sasha vs Bayley match at Mania, does it even make the main card?  Are we getting a 9 hour Mania????

Keri’s Final Verdict:  Congrats Harper on this week’s win.

Final Thoughts:

Anonyruss:  I hate final thoughts.

Harper Lee:  Well, Keri stole my idea, so I guess I need something different to discuss.  Ohhhh, I know. How about the idiotic decision to replace Booker T with Jonathan Coachman who involved in this ESPN sexual harassment thing….allegedly.  While I don’t feel comfortable commenting on that, who actually wanted to lose the Booker and Corey dynamic?

Keri:  For the next few weeks I’m going to use my final thoughts to discuss the New Japan Cup which starts this Friday and the winner of the tournament gets a title shot against the champ of his choice at Sakura Genesis on April 1st. Here are my picks for the first round of the New Japan Cup: Match up 1: Michael Elgin vs. Tomohiro Ishii (Pick: Ishii); Match up 2: Juice Robinson vs. Yujiro Takahashi (Pick: Juice); Match up 3: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Taichi (Pick: Tanahashi); Match up 4: Bad Luck Fale vs. Lance Archer (Pick: Fale); Match up 5:  Tetsuya Naito vs. Zack Sabre Jr (Pick: Naito); Match up 6: Kota Ibushi vs Yoshi Hashi (Pick: Ibushi); Match up 7: Toru Yano vs Davey Boy Smith Jr (Pick: Yano); Match up 8: Chuckie T vs Sanada (Pick: Sanada). Come back next week readers to see if I got any of these picks correct and also to get my thoughts on the first round results.

The Wrestling 9 Deuce – February 26 & 27, 2018 The Golden Shovel Returns

We got to see Cena wielding the golden shovel, Ronda’s inability to act or toss a man twice her size through a table well, but he sold it like a son of a bitch, and much more!!  Keri is back judging Anonyruss and Harper Lee on their responses to her questions.  Over on our podcast, Are You Not Kentertained we had our 100th episode.  Enough said!!!    Please enjoy.

____________________________________________

  1.  Well, Roman Reigns is our #1 contender for the Universal title and cut a promo on Brock Monday night on RAW. What did you think of this promo?

Anonyruss:  This was Roman’s best promo.  That doesn’t say too much since the majority of his promos are garbage.  I’m not a Roman hater, but talking is not his strong suit. Still, This was above average for any promo and for that I have to give him props.  Brock not showing up may have been the best thing that could have happened to Roman. Now was this WWE’s doing? Or is Brock really such a douche that he can’t work all the way through his contract?  I guess we will have to tune in to find out.

Harper Lee:  Man, can that man cut a passionate promo, or what?  And what is that mean ole Brock Lesnar doing with Dana White?  You, sir, are under contract with WWE. That means you stay with them until it runs out.  I am so mad at Brock, I could scream at him. He doesn’t scare me. Daddy and his brother got plenty of guns, so bring it Beast!

Keri’s Verdict:  Not a bad showing from Roman this week. Do I still think he has the charisma of a carrot? Yes, I do. But at least he showed promise so that is a step in the right direction. Also, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again Brock Lesnar is one of the main things wrong with the WWE right now. Let’s hope by early April we are done with that nonsense. Now to award this question’s point. I like that Harper is showing no fear this week so she gets the point.

  1.  So much to talk about in the RAW women’s division. Asuka has apparently chosen to face Alexa at Mania and Nia is having none of it, Mickie and Alexa now have an alliance, and it looks like it may be the end of the super best friends, Sasha and Bayley. Discuss all of these recent developments.

Anonyruss:  Asuka still hasn’t chosen who she is going to face and I think that plays big time into Nia / Bliss / Mickie and their “paths” to Mania.  I think Asuka is still going to face Charlotte. This will leave Nia to face Bliss. Sasha and Bayley should have happened about 5 or 6 months ago.  Still, if this finally turns Sasha back to a heel and doing the things that made us all love her in the first place, then let’s get this thing over with!

Harper Lee:  I’m so sad to see Bayley and Sasha not be besties anymore.  What is this world coming to??? I don’t trust that Mickie James.  Why are you siding with Alexa after recently feuding with her? I don’t get it.  Why is Nia even in the conversation if she lost cleanly to Asuka? This is all absurdity personified.

Keri’s Verdict:  I have to say kudos to RAW creative for coming up with the current storyline for the women’s division. I’m actually intrigued and looking forward to what happens next. Good job.  Now to award the point for this question. I don’t know what has gotten into Harper this week but I’m digging her sassiness so one point to Harper.

  1.  It looks like the Miz is potentially facing Finn Balor and Seth Rollins at Mania for the IC title. Is this a good decision? Also, where does this leave Elias and Braun?

Anonyruss:  Is this a good decision?  Hell yea it is! The Miz, Finn, and Seth in a triple threat match for the IC title is money in the bank!  So I’m 100% behind this. So where does that leave Elias and Braun? Well if you are to believe the internet (and who doesn’t?)  The IC title will be a fatal 5 way. You know WWE has had a hard-on lately for multi man matches. I can’t think of the last PPV that didn’t at least have a triple threat match or more men in one match.

Harper Lee:  It leaves Elias in that match as well and possibly Braun.  I still think Braun is main eventing this year’s Wrestlemania.  Let Roman kick out of an F5 only for Braun to capitalize and win the belt.  The IC belt is below Braun at the moment despite him never holding a belt. Look at that man and tell me that he is in the mid-card with that cute bushy beard of his.  He can put his hands on me anytime, that’s his saying, right. He wants to put his hands on Harper Lee. I’m pretty sure that’s correct.

Keri’s Verdict:  If the WWE was smart, they would do two things here. First, they would keep this Elias and Braun feud going into Mania. Those two guys work great together. Second, let’s leave Balor, Miz, and Rollins alone. That match has the match of the night potential and I’d say this about a card that potentially has Styles vs Nakamura. Alright, it’s award a point time. I’m going to award Anonyruss a point here. I agree there are too many multi-man matches right now. It really screams lazy writing.

  1.  John Cena came out on RAW said he failed at EC, that he would not face the Undertaker at Mania, and that he would head to Smackdown in search of his road to Wrestlemania. Then on Smackdown, he immediately asked for a title shot, beat AJ, and got added to the fatal five-way (now six-pack challenge) at Fastlane. Discuss all of this and also what you would like to see Cena do at Mania.

Anonyruss:  Wow this question is loaded, like Cena is with shit.  If you didn’t get that I am saying that Cena is full of shit.  Has no path to Mania. Listen I love a good make believe story, but Cena having no way to get to WrestleMania is going too far beyond believability.  I was pissed that he got a clean win over AJ. I mean the match was good, but the better story would have been him losing to AJ and then having Shinsuke come out and want to have a match with Cena at Fastlane so he can prove himself to everyone and to entice Cena to accept if he beats Shinsuke then he will be added to his match with AJ at Mania.  That is gold! GOLD I TELLS YA! Sorry. Anyway, I’d still have Cena lose at Fastlane and then he would be at rock bottom and that is when the Undertaker comes out. He then says something like “Now that you have hit rock bottom, I’m coming to bury you so you may Rest In Peace. Boom Taker and Cena at Mania.

Harper Lee:  I think that John Cena needs to see a good psychiatrist, like Dr. Shelby.  Does anybody remember that stuff with Daniel Bryan and Kane. I laughed and I laughed, and I may have peed a little bit, but so worth it catching up on so many things that I missed over the years.  Seriously though, I’m a member of Cenation through and through usually, but don’t go thinking you can fight the Dead Man. Also, not cool beating my man AJ Styles. I was not happy that night. I ate a whole pan of brownies in rage mode after that match.  Rage mode is similar to Brie mode except I actually accomplished something and was good at it.

Keri’s Verdict:  This whole Cena doesn’t have a path for Mania is BS. No one believes it Creative. The man is John Cena. Creative almost certainly has something for him. And as long as he doesn’t mess with my Styles vs Nakamura match, he can do whatever and bury whomever  he wants. Now to award a point. Harper mentioned brownies and I love brownies. Should creative decide to mess with Styles vs Nakamura I will need a whole pan of those myself.

  1.  Let’s talk the Smackdown Tag Division, shall we? We had a good segment with the Uso and New Day followed by some foreshadowing with the Bludgeon Brothers. What are your thoughts on this? Where do you see this going?

Anonyruss:  The Uso’s and New Day were good this week.  I like a fired up Big E. That is the best Big E.  Then I loved how the Bludgeon Brothers came out. I am really starting to dig there music.  This has to be leading to a triple threat tag team match right? It would just be one more multi-man match type that gives WWE it’s boner.  I am beginning to think Mania will just be a clusterfuck of Multi-Men matches with the exception of like two matches. I can’t believe how stacked the WWE is right now!

Harper Lee:  I’ll tell you, the only thing scarier than Braun’s hands are those hammers that the Bludgeon Brothers have.  Good lawdy, Uso’s and Newday, ain’t no penitentiary or pancake that is going to save you from some legit southern boys.  Can you imagine how big’s Braun’s hands are? How big his fingers are? Oh my……..I need to take a bath.

Keri’s Verdict:  Why is it no matter how many times I see the Usos and New Day cut a promo it never gets old? They are that damn good right now. With that said I also like what they are doing with the Bludgeon Brothers right now. It’s almost something out of one of those SOON memes. Ok points time. So, I’m going to award Anonyruss the point here because again his answer is on point and sending Harper for a cold shower.

Bonus Time: Each week Anonyruss and Harper Lee will choose a topic that hasn’t been discussed in this week’s blog.  In the event of a tie after 5 questions, Keri will use these extra thoughts to help her declare a winner.:

Anonyruss:  Harper Lee sounds like she has lost her southern charm and turned into a douchey bitch.  (Kent: Yeah #MeToo!!!)  I jest, I love her. Still, she is right. I have nothing to contribute to this section.  JASON JORDAN FOREVER! COME BACK TO US SOON!

Harper Lee:  Kevin Owen’s made fun of Baron Corbin’s hairline on Smackdown.  I laughed. That’s better than what Anonyruss is going to bring to the table.  Ballin!!!

Keri’s Final Verdict:  Congrats to Harper for this week’s win. I’m digging the sassiness this week girl. Keep it up.

Final Thoughts:

Anonyruss:  Can we all agree that finally seeing Fashion Files on Smackdown instead of on facebook was the right call?  Sure, it was just a long commercial for some stupid show on the USA Network, but it was better than a lot of Smackdown that night.

Harper Lee:  I get car sick easily so this Road to Wrestlemania has me very nauseous.  I wanna see me some more Ronda Rousey. Also, Keri, can you tell Russ and Kent to stop calling her Ronda Arouse-me?  That’s such a lewd thing to say.

Keri:  Let me just say that I may be in over my head on this whole finishing up school thing. I’m only 6 weeks in and I feel like I do at week 12. This is going to be a long semester. But at least graduation day is set so it will all be worth it come May 12th. If I make it to May 12th, that is. And, Harper it bugs me too but I’ve learned to pick my battles with those two so I’m letting it slide for now.

The Wrestling 9 Deuce – February 19 & 20, 2018 Seth is Iron Man

Kent here, and Seth took off the flaming pants that keep Russell hot, and is now our new Iron Man.  Funny how WWE put over HHH so much this week but refused to mention a certain Crippler.  Ah well.  Keri is back judging Anonyruss and Harper Lee on their responses to her questions.  Over on our podcast, Are You Not Kentertained we discussed iron man, Elimination Chamber preview, and made fun of Smackdown.    Please enjoy.

____________________________________________

  1.  So there was a gauntlet match on RAW this week but let’s not discuss specifically this match. Instead, let’s discuss “Ironman” Seth Rollins in this match.

Anonyruss:  Well if Jordan can’t be on RAW then I’ll take an hour plus of my other guy Seth Rollins.  He looked great out there. He basically gave us 2 quality PPV matches in one. First, he fought Roman Reigns.  This in and of itself was fantastic as far as a match goes. The back and forth was great and lots of decent spots that were fun.  After Rollins got the pin here and I heard John Cena’s music I thought for sure that this would be a quick win for Cena, you know because of #lolCenaWins.  I was very wrong. The match with Cena was also a very good showing. Then when he won that I was floored. I hope this showing for Rollins helps get him back into the main event scene because he had a really lackluster 2017.  Things are coming up Rollinshouse (until Sunday, when they come up Reignhouse from there until after WrestleMania.)

Harper Lee:  Screw it, at the risk of losing a point, I’m disregarding the question and talking about the whole match.  While this was an early candidate for match of the year, in my opinion, they screwed up. Keri, you should appreciate this, I am taking something that has been universally praised and still going to bitch about it. I would have changed up the booking.  I would have started with Finn vs Miz, had Finn win and out comes Braun. Braun beat Finn. Elias is out next and we do some big guy stuff and while Elias has a good showing, Braun wins and gets a win back. While Braun is celebrating, Elias hits him with a chair.  You can bring Roman or Cena out next to take Braun out quickly. Probably Roman and his wet hair. Roman takes advantage of a hurt Braun thanks to Elias’ post-match beat down. Out comes Seth, and then we have Seth do his hour + long bit of magic. Cena being the last guy to lose also plays into his current storyline where he keeps falling short.  This would have been a proper match build up where it got exciting and had the near falls. This match was great, but it could have been better had they followed my plan. Also, they said that HHH had an iron man match but they never said who. Come to find out, it was Chris Benoit. Keri, why didn’t the WWE mention Mr. Benoit? My daddy said it was that no good Kevin Sullivan that did those terrible things.

Keri’s Verdict:  While the overall match was great, Seth’s performance Monday night was amazing and it came with wins over Cena and Roman. I think it may have been the best performance in his WWE career. Needless to say, I was very, very impressed. And with that said, I always love me some creative booking changes and for that Harper gets the point.

  1.  Titus Worldwide had a good showing against the Bar this week on RAW. Is tag team gold coming to Titus Worldwide?

Anonyruss:  HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAA, what? HAHAHAHAHA, no!  Titus World Wide get gold? Oh man, you are hilarious question writer! In all seriousness, Titus Worldwide has tons of talent.  Apollo is money, WWE just doesn’t know how to properly utilize him. Titus is an ok wrestler with decent charisma. Together they have been fun, but I think WWE is just making them look good so that when The Bar walks all over them on Sunday it won’t be so boring.  Gotta make the competition at least look like they have a chance.

Harper Lee:  Well well well, if you go back to last week’s blog and read the bonus portion, I did say that Apollo should get himself a push.    This week validated my opinion. This is an automatic point for me because of last week. Yes, I am better than that stupid Mr. Clio.

Keri’s Verdict:  The RAW tag team division as a whole is a mess. You have the Balor Club fighting the Revival, Ginger Rhyno keeping everyone’s seats warm in catering, and the Bar wrestling Titus Worldwide. This division needs energy stat and I think a title change may do it.   Harper gets the point here not just for what she said above but also for her overall sense of positivity.

  1.  So at Fastlane, we have the Uso vs the New Day for the 15,000th time. What are your thoughts on this?

Anonyruss:  My thoughts are Smackdown SUCKS!  It has almost been unwatchable for the past 3 weeks (I’m being generous here.)  So the fact that they have to rely on Uso’s vs New Day just tells me they are still creatively bankrupt.  Now as far as the match goes. I’m fine with it. They have had some great matches at PPV’s the last few times they went at it.  So I am pretty sure this will be a great match, but if it isn’t it’s not like it will ruin a good story.

Harper Lee:  Well, this is another easy point.  Anonyruss clearly didn’t watch last week’s episode of Smackdown or he would have seen a well-done wrestling show.  His credibility is thinner than Baron Corbin’s hair. I am so sorry Mr. Lone Wolf. This is WWE at it’s worst when they refuse to let the new talent rise up and have a changing of the guard.  Last year New Day didn’t have a match at Mania. I think something is up, and I fear that the Uso’s won’t get a chance to defend their belts at Mania, and that would be a terrible crime. Way worse than when daddy and his brothers got caught bootlegging moonshine and have some method for creating crystals.  Crystals are so pretty, well except the creepy girls named Crystal. Never trust them.

Keri’s Verdict:  New Day vs the Usos, the Usos vs New Day, sigh. Doesn’t matter how you order it, the matchup is played out and downright boring. But I agree with Anonyruss, it will be an exciting match so that is probably the silver lining for all of us. And with that said, one point Anonyruss.

  1.  On Smackdown this week we found out who will be facing who for the US and Women’s titles at Fastlane. Pick one of these matchups and discuss.

Anonyruss:  Wait, they did? When did that happen?  Let me go check what and who. Ok, back from checking.  So Bobby is going to face Randy. Can we be real for a second.  We all know Jinder is somehow going to be included in this right?  So what the hell is the point of announcing this match when we all know next week or even the following week they are going to add him!  Ok, back to wrestling world. I like the match up. The more Bobby can do with some of the “great” talent the better. They need to groom him to be a top heel.  Randy is at his best when he is a heel so this feels like a good thing for Bobby. The women’s title match: Woooo Jr. vs My High school-self’s dream girl, Ruby Riot.  Why would I care about this match? We all know Lil’ Woo is going to win.

Harper Lee:  Well, a face vs face match up makes sense since there is only one face in the main event against 4 heels.  My question is simple, who is Shinsuke fighting? Am I the only one feeling Shinsuke’s momentum collapsing before our very eyes?  Maybe I need to get my eyes examined. He won the Royal Rumble and has done nothing since. It’s a tad ridiculous. Still, with all of that being said,  we are in a new era where Charlotte may be the single greatest champion that we have in WWE. She is so talented, and to all of the haters out there, this girl has worked and trained hard for her spot.  Her last name has nothing to do with it. That’s balderdash!!! That was my word of the day on my calendar a few days ago. I love it. It’s like boulders are having a 100 yard dash. Anyway, the queen is going to destroy this peasant, Ruby Riot, and then the whole squad can go back into obscurity.  Quite frankly, I want to see Asuka take on Charlotte. If that happens, let’s make history one more time and have the historic, first ever women main eventing a Wrestlemania. Come on, let’s do it. You know you want to see it. Well #MeToo. I love that hashtag. It’s nice that I can just agree with people.  Hey Harper, I like strawberry ice cream and I’m like #MeToo. I love social media!

Keri’s Verdict:  These matchups are very simple to describe. These are the “titles are not going to change hands because of Mania but we still want to see what both people are capable of in a championship match setting.” The US title match is as Anonyruss said a way for Roode to work with a heel like Randy. As for the women’s title match, this is Ruby’s chance to see if she belongs in the title picture. Now to award this week’s question number 4 point. I don’t know where Harper was going with her response but she does bring up a good point with Shinsuke. And Anonyruss’ answer really is on point so one point to him.

  1.  The Cruiserweight tournament has officially begun. Who do you got and why?

Anonyruss:  Wait, they did? When did that happen?  Let me go check what and who. Ok, back from checking. They certainly did.  Man, I keep telling myself to watch 205, but Smackdown has sucked so hard that by the end I just don’t want to watch any more wrestling that week.  Alright, so I’m taking TJP. They seemed to want to get behind him when the whole 205 thing started, but because the show was just starting and TJP couldn’t be himself they lost interest in him.  Recently it has seemed that he has had a bit of a resurgence as a heel. I like it! So I’m taking him to go ahead and win another WWE based tournament.

Harper Lee:  I’ll tell you who isn’t winning it, Hideo Itami.  He is one of the most underutilized talents currently  I think they need to start a new era with Enzo and RIch officially gone.  I was going to pick Tony Nese….and he’s already out. Sigh. Fine, I will go with the first ever UK champion Tyler Bate……and he’s already out.  Well, I am going with Akira Tozawa….and he’s out. What the heck is going on? Honestly, look at the bracket and tell if you would rather watch the current participants including Buddy Murphy, or if you would rather see a tournament with all of the losers of the first round.  If I ask you, do you want Cedric, TJP, Roderick, Kalisto, Mustafa, Buddy, Drew Gulak, and Mark Andrews or would you rather have Gran Metalik, Tyler Bate, Hideo, Lince Dorado, Jack Gallagher, Daivari, Tony Nese, and Akira? If that doesn’t get me a point, I do not know what will.  I think Cedric is winning.

Keri’s Verdict:  There have been some shocking upsets in this tournament and it seems like they may be taking this division in a new direction. It’s not like the old way was really working anyways and honestly, I think that belt may be cursed at this point. But with that said, I’m picking Mr. Alexa Bliss, Buddy Murphy to win this thing. Why you ask? Because he made his debut in this tournament for a reason and I think the title is the reason why he debuted. So, time to award a point and you know what I can decide on this question. We have negativity on Harper side which is really unlike her and I’m just not feeling Anonyruss’ answer either. So, I’m going to do a blog first and award no points for this question.

Bonus Time: Each week Anonyruss and Harper Lee will choose a topic that hasn’t been discussed in this week’s blog.  In the event of a tie after 5 questions, Keri will use these extra thoughts to help her declare a winner.

Anonyruss:  It feels like Elimination Chamber should be a decent PPV, but something just feels off.  I’m not sure what it is, but I’m just not feeling this PPV. Don’t get me wrong I’ll watch it and I’m sure there will be several matches that will be great, but I just don’t have that same vibe I get when I watch other PPV’s on The Road to WrestleMania.

Harper Lee:  I would like to see WWE eliminate all PPV’s between the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania.  It would force them to book intelligently instead of changing their minds at the last second and make stupid decisions, like Cena winning the belt suddenly last year or my man Luke being an afterthought.  This would force WWE to provide solid weekly shows on the Road to Wrestlemania. Or give us a 205 exclusive PPV and UK only PPV instead of RAW or Smackdown. This would still give us PPV’s, but a nice change of pace.  Come on, you know you would like to see an all UK or 205 PPV.

Keri’s Final Verdict:  I like Harper’s idea of having story building for the biggest show of the year. This is the “road to WrestleMania” and we don’t know what the matches are yet or why we should care about the said matchups. Enough of these PPVs between Rumble and Mania. Seriously WWE, you have your biggest shows of the year in a little over a month and you really need to build for that. Why you ask? Because, as of right now (and if you believe the internet), the most anticipated match of the weekend isn’t even in your promotion. With that said, one point for Harper and with that point the win. I couldn’t agree with you more, Harper.  Creative needs to be creative again.

Final Thoughts:

Anonyruss:  I really have no final thoughts this week.  Check out Keri’s though. She has some deep thoughts and they are not Jack Handy’s.

Harper Lee:  Sometimes taking a step back from what we are most passionate about is important.  It does offer some clarity. We do get obsessive at times. Whether it be Russell on Are You Not Kentertained with Seth’s flaming pants, or Kent with Filipino transvestites, or Keri with her Asian-itis, it’s good to take a step back and realize that this isn’t the end of the world.  When Cena wins #17, people are going to be mad. Make no mistake about it, every single guy with double-digit title runs have had numerous lousy runs that were short lived and not memorable, and that includes the Nature Boy. Really there is only one thing that ever mattered. Whoever slays the Beast in April will be my hero.  I am hoping it is Braun because Brock did the one thing that should never have been done.

Keri:  So, last week I went to a very, very dark place on this blog and I may have ruined Mania for some of our readers. And for that, I apologize and would like to thank Harper for making me realize how scary I was becoming. And no, the fact that I was growing a rather long neckbeard had nothing to do with it (even though it was rather unsightly). It’s just that I’ve been watching what is happening with my beloved Bullet Club right now and I have to admit that the negativity and bad vibes from that storyline translated itself over into my blogging. Then, I watched this week’s episode of BTE (Being the Elite, for those of you who don’t know) and had an epiphany while I watched a chair thrown by Cody at Kenny sail by with Tama Tonga in the background. What I noticed in this particular scene was not the chair being thrown or the individuals in the scuffle but Tama sitting there with his sunglasses on looking like he could give two fucks less about what was going on in front of him. And seeing his reaction to everything got me thinking, why do I care about this so much? Why am I so affected by all this negativity and bad vibes?  Then I thought you know what I think should be more like Tama. And you know what that is exactly what I’m going to do. Team Kenny or Team Cody? I’m sure some of you out there have chosen your side in this Bullet Club Civil War. But for me, all I have to say is I don’t care anymore and quite frankly it’s all just getting a little too silly for me. All I will say though is may the best man win. (Kent: So the Bullet Club is stealing more from the NWO?  We can’t forget Black and White vs Wolfpack. Christ, just go watch the NWO story on WWE Network and save some time.  I’d say that Kenny is more Wolfpack and Cody is Black and White OG NWO. I’m not saying that it’s bad, but this feels like more copying.)

The Wrestling 9 Deuce – January 22 & 23, 2018 – RAW turns 25

Hi, Kent here.  We are ramping up for the Royal Rumble, but prior to that, we have RAW’s 25th anniversary.  This week, WWE crowned a new US Champion, with Bobby Roode winning it.  We talk about that plus much more.  Over on our podcast, Are You Not Kentertained we discussed the MMC and the other big topics of the week.   Please enjoy.

____________________________________________

  1.  Overall, on a scale of 1 to 5, what would you rate RAW 25? Explain your rating.

Anonyruss:  I’m giving RAW 25 a 4.  There were so many good things that happened.  Seeing Vince as the old Megalomaniac was a real treat.  Stone Cold Stunners are also a welcome sight.  The poker game was a fun way to show how the older and younger talents interact, plus it was just great fun.  The DX segment was really great too.  X-Pac looked great as did Razor.  I hope that the beat down The Revival received helps elevate them in the future, but it was nice to see the Balor club get a rub.  I couldn’t give this a perfect score because it wasn’t perfect.  It left a lot to be desired.  I’m all for the nostalgia aspect that we received, but I do tune in to watch the matches as well as the stories and the matches left a lot to be desired.  With the exception of the IC title match, the rest of the matches were boring and it made the night drag.

Harper Lee:  5 easily.  I had so much fun!  The poker game throughout the night was great!  There were so many fun moments.  I know that’s what the night was supposed to be, and I felt that it delivered by and large.  I know that the smarks will find a way to overanalyze this and nitpick and talk themselves into believing that this was bad somehow.  They are the problem with wrestling fans.  This was meant to be a fun show with minimal story progression.  It’s like how sitcoms use to do clip shows.  If you had an issue with this, then stop watching.  Just stop.  You cannot be appeased.  I gave it a 5 because it was 100% pure nostalgia.  I can’t really complain too much..

Keri’s Verdict:  I’m going to give the show a 4. It was good for the nostalgia factor and that’s really what this show was about if you think about it. It had its great moments (Stone Cold, Jericho, DX/Balor Club, and the APA). And then there were the not so great moments (Women’s segments, Taker promo). Anyways, enough of me rambling. Your reading this to find out who gets the point from me and not to read my opinion. So, I thought a lot about this and Harper is just so optimistic and happy I feel as if that needs to be rewarded. So, one point Harper.

  1.  What was your favorite segment from RAW 25?

Anonyruss:  You may not know this about me, but I was a huge Stone Cold Steve Austin fan in my younger days.  That first segment with the McMahons and Austin was fantastic and it brought to mind a lot of great memories.

Harper Lee:  I don’t know if this counts, but the whole poker game was my favorite, but it was multiple segments.  As for just one cohesive segment, Jericho and Elias felt brilliant.  Jericho just has a certain gift, and Elias is money at the moment.

Keri’s Verdict:  I had a couple of favorite segments from RAW 25. My first was the interaction between Jericho and Elias. I want a feud between them in the future if Jericho ever comes back to the WWE for any length of time. Also, I love that he wore the Alpha Club shirt during that segment. As for my second favorite, I have to say that I enjoyed the “torch passing” segment between DX/ the Kliq and the Balor Club. That segment was very enjoyable and hopefully means big things for the Balor Club in the future. Now time to award the point for this question. Well, this was a tough one because both responses really are on point. You know what everyone gets a point.

  1.  What was your least favorite segment from RAW 25?

Anonyruss: I’m going to say the very last thing they did with Braun, Brock, and Kane.  It missed the mark big time.  I get it, they fell behind on time and needed to make it shorter, but man did it make Kane look like a non-factor in the match he is going to be in on Sunday.  It just felt rushed and stupid.  Why bring all those guys out to the ring just to have them watch as Braun walked past those guys?  Oh well here is to Braun losing another match he would most assuredly win if WWE wasn’t stuck on Roman vs. Brock at Mania.

Harper Lee:  That segment where Hulk Hogan didn’t come out.  Whatever Anonyruss says isn’t as important as Hogan.  It’s time for The Hulkster to be given a second chance.  I remember my daddy showing me so many of Hogan’s matches, and while they may seem very paint by numbers now, so did Flair’s, but he is universally praised.  Hogan should have been there.

Keri’s Verdict:  I only have one question in regards to my least favorite segment on RAW 25 and that is, where was Lita? Seriously, when you think of women’s wrestling on RAW especially during the Attitude Era, you think Trish and Lita. They were the first women to main event the show and you invite one of them but not the other yet include the uninvited one on all promotional materials for the show. Bad form WWE. Anyways, time to award points. I’m going to award a point to Anonyruss here. He’s gotta a point on this segment. It was thrown together and gave the fans in attendance and those watching at home very little to get excited about on what was also a go home show for the Rumble. Yeah, I know the title match isn’t what is important on Sunday but still a segment that generated intrigue would have been nice. (Kent: Lita sucks.  That is all.)

  1.  The Miz is once again Intercontinental Champion. Discuss this title change.

Anonyruss:  What a match!  This was definitely a highlight of the night.  Both Roman and The Miz are great in-ring and they delivered.  At first, I was kind of hoping that The Miz would lose and that he could go on to a program that included another major title that has barely been seen since WrestleMania.  Then I thought to myself, that’s Russ thinking.  I am clearly not Russ because if I was Russ then my name wouldn’t be Anonyruss.  Anyway!  I think this was the best thing for The Miz.  He clearly is one of the best things happening in wrestling right now and he deserves to have a belt.  Since the Red belt won’t be available for many months this was the right call.  Let’s hope they put him in a fantastic feud in the near future and that The Miz gets a great opponent for Mania.

Harper Lee:  Finally, an intercontinental champion with dry hair!  I kid, I kid, I would love for Roman to spear m…..I mean, believe that!  Yeah.  It’s a good thing Daddy doesn’t understand how to use the internet yet.  I think that The Miz is a total jerk, and I wanted Daniel Bryan to backhand him so much.  The odd thing is that I think that this may have made more sense from a story standpoint.  I just don’t really like the Miz’s attitude.  I hope Roman wins the Royal Rumble.

Keri’s Verdict:  The outcome of this match was kinda predictable if you think about it. Roman is winning the Universal title at Mania so he had to drop the IC title eventually. Again, we have WWE with its predictable booking being well predictable. Sigh. Anyways, with that said, Miz always does a good job making the IC title relevant and meaningful so this was a good move. I would like to see who he faces off with next for the title to see exactly what WWE’s plan is for the title. I would also like to see if putting the Universal Title on Roman at Mania is going to do anything to legitimize that title. I’m going to go with no but I challenge WWE to prove me wrong. Alright, now time to award points. I’m going to have to award a point to Anonyruss here for one reason and one reason only. He did not suggest that Roman should win the Royal Rumble. While he probably will and Philly will burn as a result, he doesn’t need that win. He’s already won it in the past and his date with Brock is pretty much set in stone. Why not give that rub to someone who actually needs it?

  1.  The Men and Women’s Royal Rumble is this Sunday (just in case you haven’t heard). Tell me who you think should win and who probably will win each Rumble.

Anonyruss:  Alright let’s talk about the Women’s Royal Rumble match:  Who I want to win:  Becky:  It seems like a no-brainer.  She is the most underutilized talent in the entire WWE (and yes I’m including the men, even Cesaro.)  She deserves to win it.  Who is going to win:  Asuka.  I just can’t see the WWE playing up her undefeated streak this entire time just to have it disappear in the Rumble.  Also, I’m fine with her winning it; she is deserving.  Men’s Royal Rumble:  Who I want to win: I’d love to say my man Jason Jordan, but I am 99% sure he isn’t in it this year.  So I would like to see Finn Balor win the whole thing.  He never got his title rematch and this could be a way of making it up to him.  Since we all know that isn’t happening who is going to win:  Roman Reigns:  I’m not a hater of Roman, he deserves that spot he is in, but come on WWE!  This has been telegraphed since WrestleMania last year!  Can’t you change your damn minds and give us something unexpected?

Harper Lee:  It’s going to be herstoric!  I think that maybe Becky should win.  She seems incredibly overlooked on Smackdown.  She’s way better than what they currently have.  Why does Kent always talk about The Walking Dead on the podcast?  I don’t get it.  I think Asuka is the winner, but Bayley would be the smartest option.  Bayley could be such a role model, but she needs this boost.  Asuka can afford to get eliminated and not be hurt by it.  As for the men, there are so many options.  It feels like it’s been awhile since a younger guy got this big push.I would like to see Baron or Shinsuke quite frankly.  Both match up with AJ quite well, providing that my man AJ retains his belt.  I am predicting Bobby Lashley to win.  Why not?

Keri’s Verdict:  Starting with the women, I think Becky should win but Asuka will probably win (provided we don’t get a Ronda surprise on Sunday). And for the men, I would like to see Shinsuke win only because I want a reason to want to watch Mania and Styles vs Nakamura would do it. However, Roman since he is officially in the Rumble and will probably end up winning it. Sigh. I understand this booking but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. Also, why does the WWE want to do this to Philly again? I guess some people just like to watch the world (or Philly) burn.  Alright, time to award points. This is another question where both responses were really on point. So, each person gets a point.

Bonus Time: Each week Anonyruss and Harper Lee will choose a topic that hasn’t been discussed in this week’s blog.  In the event of a tie after 5 questions, Keri will use these extra thoughts to help her declare a winner.:

Anonyruss:  I love seeing Taker on my TV screen!  It was so much fun watching him come out just like old time.  Even if his message was way too short, made no sense, and confused me and probably all the readers out there.  It was still great to see him.  He again looks like he is in good shape.  Maybe the Taker vs Cena match is going to happen!

Harper Lee:  I have heard about Enzo Amore getting released.  It saddens me that this stuff still happens.  Either way, it’s bad.  If Enzo did do it, shame on him.  If he is innocent, shame on the female.  Either way, someone is in the wrong here and it saddens me that this sort of thing still happens.  Oh no, my Uncle Eli is visiting from Georgia.  He always insists that I sit on his lap, and it was fun when I was a kid, but here I am, 25 years old.  This really stopped being fun at least 4 years ago, but it makes him happy, so I do it.  Anyway, I can’t wait to see who the commissioner of 205 is.

Keri’s Final Verdict:  Congrats to Anonyruss on this week’s win!

Final Thoughts:

Anonyruss: You may be wondering why the blog was put up so late this week.  Well, I had a busy week, but thank goodness the guys are pretty understanding.  They only cut my pay for the next 5 weeks!   They told me that if I’m late again that they were going to send me on a very long vacation!  Russ and Kent are the best bosses a guy could hope for!   Oh yeah, I notice there was nothing mentioned about Smackdown this week.  I finally watched it and I see why.  It has almost become unwatchable, yuck!

Harper Lee:  This will be my first live Royal Rumble since I became a fan, and I am so excited.  I can’t wait to guess who is coming out next and the big surprises.  I get all tingly thinking about it.

Keri:  I’ve decided that this weekend there is way too much wrestling going on especially for the weekend before I start my final semester of grad school. This is what I will be watching this weekend in addition to doing homework:  the Royal Rumble, NXT Takeover, and NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo (nights 1 and 2) to watch in addition to doing homework. While it’s a great weekend to be a wrestling fan, I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to watch all of it. Wish me luck everyone!

The Wrestling 9 Deuce – January 15 & 16, 2018 A Glorious US Champion

Hi, Kent here.  We are ramping up for the Royal Rumble, but prior to that, we have RAW’s 25th anniversary.  This week, WWE crowned a new US Champion, with Bobby Roode winning it.  We talk about that plus much more.  Over on our podcast, Are You Not Kentertained we discussed the MMC and the other big topics of the week.   Please enjoy.

____________________________________________

  1.  Over the weekend, there were two breaking news stories. One that Paige’s in ring career was more or less over and the other that said Mark Henry had officially retired from the WWE. Discuss one or both of these stories.

Anonyruss:  Well, that sucks for Paige and the WWE as a whole.  Paige was a great in-ring talent and she is still young.  Unfortunately, these things happen in professional wrestling.  I guess the worst thing about it is that she just came back from a long hiatus from injury and now she may never wrestle again, at least in a WWE ring.  It is also unfortunate that Paige, to me anyway, seems like a reckless person who is willing to throw away her well being just to get back in the ring.  It’s her life, but I think WWE is doing the right thing here.   As for Mark Henry retiring.  I think he is as retired a wrestler as Ric Flair was the first time he retired.  Mark is definitely on the last leg of his career, but I bet he still has a few matches in him.  I’ll believe he is retired when I see it.

Harper Lee:  My heart breaks for Paige.  This talented young lady had worked so hard to get back on the right path from a professional and personal direction.  It’s an absolute shame, but is another caution sign on the road of professional wrestling.  This is why I appreciate that WWE has toned it’s product down.  I have seen some of the stuff on the WWE network and I see how and why so many great careers were cut short like Austin, Edge, and the many performers during the hardcore Attitude era.  Paige realistically had an opportunity to be one of the top 3 female performers in WWE history.  Now she is more of a what if, while acknowledging how much potential she had.  I also believe that this is why Paige’s picture for the Royal Rumble looked so bad.  Think about it!  In regards to Mark Henry, that man was really funny as Sexual Chocolate.  He seemed to really grow as a performer as I have watched all the Royal Rumbles.  He has had a lengthy career and I wish that he could have had a bigger curtain call.  He deserves it.  Maybe he makes one last appearance this year and if he does, me and my daddy will be cheering him on.  I love dark chocolate, like the Hershey miniatures.

Keri’s Verdict:  No! Not my girl Paige. This is so sad. She is so good and this is so unfortunate. Oh great! Now I’m sad. But wait, what is this I see? Why yes it is a comment about chocolate? Well that made me feel better about things. Harper gets a point for cheering me up.

  1.  Braun, you’re fired. No wait, Braun, you are rehired so please don’t destroy anything or anyone else for the rest of the night. Discuss this storyline.

Anonyruss:  Let’s start by stating that the whole premise behind firing Braun was very stupid.  Hey, last week you endangered the lives of people on live TV.  I’m going to wait an entire week until we are on live TV again and I’m going to fire you!  If WWE’s goal was to make Kurt look stupid… Mission accomplished.  With that said.  Can Braun get fired every week?  This was fantastic!  I don’t know how they keep coming up with ways for Braun to do awesome Braun things, but keep doing it!  He is consistently the best thing on RAW every week and I look forward to seeing him get his hands on anyone who gets in his way.  Give that man the belt!

Harper Lee:  Pardon my language, but what the heck was that all about?  I understand Kurt’s position on firing Braun, but Kurt handled it all wrong.  I think it was Corey that said that Kurt  should have told him outside of the arena or via phone.  You don’t do it in front of the crowd because of course Braun is going to be upset.  I have been fired from a few jobs, but I cannot imagine how embarrassing it would be to be fired in front of a crowd.  I admit, Braun knows how to entertain me and I would love to run my fingers through that beard of his.  So bushy!  I wonder if this is going to cause friction between Stephanie and Kurt, yet again.  I hope not.

Keri’s Verdict:  My initial reaction to Braun’s firing was are they seriously doing this now? What is the point of this? I still feel that way but the hilarity that ensued after Braun was fired was well hilarious as hell. As I said last week, I love when Braun does Braun things and he should always do Braun things. Anonyruss shares my thoughts on this and for that he gets a point.

  1.  So, it looks like Miz is probably getting the IC title back from Reigns at some point. Discuss this possibility.

Anonyruss:  I love The Miz, but I think it is high time he gets away from the IC title.  Honestly, he has held onto that title for well over the past year and the only time he wasn’t really holding the belt was when he went off to film his movies.  This is fine for the most part.  He is great and greatness deserves to be recognized, but with Mania coming up, which means Brocks title reign should be coming to an end,  I think it is time for The Miz to get into the mix for that title.  With that said it does seem inevitable that on RAW 25 he will regain the title.  That is fine, but can we have him in a good feud that won’t be wasted at Mania?  I mean there are a lot of talented young up and comers who could use The Miz rub, like my boy Jason Jordan!

Harper Lee:  I saw that Roman was linked to a steroids ring, so that can’t be good, right?  Not only that, but Miz seems more important to the show than Roman.  I love Roman and I think he is a dream boat, but when The Miz was gone to make the Marine 237, I found myself missing him talking smack to others and getting his butt whooped.  I feel that there is more value in that from an entertainment standpoint than there is in being a gorgeous Samoan Bad A$$.  My brother Eric loves those Marine films.  I think he’s a bit of a simpleton.

Keri’s Verdict:  The Miz has done more for the IC title than anyone else that has held over the past year. That includes that Wet Haired Guy who thinks he is the best in ring performer in the world. Seriously, Roman, top 5, maybe, but AJ Styles is currently saying hi over on Smackdown from that number one spot. Anyways, Roman has a date with Brock and maybe Braun at Mania. Let’s have him drop that title to someone who can continue to elevate the title and use it to elevate others. Now for points. I’m giving one point to Anonyruss even though I don’t completely agree with his fantasy booking.

  1.  And your new US Champion is……. Bobby Roode. Discuss. Also, what does this mean for Jinder?

Anonyruss:  This was quite unexpected.  I wonder what made WWE decide to do a rush job on this tournament?  The fact that nobody seemed to care?  Were they scared that Bobby vs Jinder would go over like a lead balloon?  A little bit of both?  Listen, if I were WWE those are actually legitimate concerns.  Bobby is great in the ring, but can he carry the likes of Jinder?  Well after watching their match on Smackdown I have to say yes!  However, I’m going to have to give credit to Jinder here as well.  This was a good match! Both guys put a  lot of effort in and the story they told in the ring was interesting enough to hold my attention.  From the beginning I’ve been saying that Bobby was winning this because it just made sense and I was right.  Now I expect Dolph to reappear sometime in the near future to attack Bobby and give us a great feud over the belt!  As for Jinder, I think if he keep working on his in-ring ability I think we will see him in the title picture for awhile.

Harper Lee:  Oh my my my, what a glorious victory it was.  I don’t normally say this, but I felt that both Bobby and Jinder had good showings.  This is where Jinder should have been all along.  I saw more out of Jinder tonight than I did during his whole world title reign, so maybe he can still prove the haters wrong, but then again, haters gonna hate.  I love that Taylor Swift!    Anyway, I think Bobby will be a great champion and it’s about time that he got featured.  He is really quite the wrestler.  He reminds me of younger HHH before he got all bulked up.  Like his movement in the ring.  I loved when HHH had that long hair.  So pretty.

Keri’s Verdict:  A couple of things before I award points. First, predictable booking is predictable. Who didn’t see Roode winning this thing? Second, Jinder proved one thing to me this week and that is he can have a good match provided he doesn’t have the pressure of championship gold weighing on him. Good for him. Now for points, Anonyruss gets the point again because as I said before predictable booking is predictable. I said a while ago this was setting up a future Dolph-Roode feud over the title and I will be shocked if WWE proves me wrong.

  1.  There were a few WWE signings announced this week and a few TNA departures that could possibly show up in the WWE in the very near future. Pick one of these signings (or departures) and discuss.

Anonyruss:  I am most looking forward to having Bobby Lashley back in the WWE again.  He was a great in-ring talent when he was first in the WWE and seemed very charismatic.  For some reason WWE couldn’t make him the star he should have been.  Then he went to TNA and really worked on the rest of his skills.  Now the WWE is getting him back and I can’t be more excited.  There are so many potential great matches that he can be in that we could be seeing 2018 shape up to be a great year for WWE wrestling.  Bobby vs Brock / Bobby vs Roman /  Bobby vs Braun /  Hell Bobby vs AJ if he goes the Smackdown way.  I can’t wait.

Harper Lee:  I reached out to my blogging mentor, Kent, to ask about the TNA departures.  I know that he is familiar with them.  I know that EC3, James Storm, and Bobby Lashley have all been released, along with some others, like Chris Masters.  All 3 guys of the main guys could be amazing under the right circumstance.  Apparently EC3 used to work for WWE so I looked him up and he was  not very good.  Very silly.  Him and Fandango had a feud and it wasn’t that good.  Kent has assured me that he totally changed his gimmick and became a stellar in ring guy with great charisma and mic skills.  I expect to see him in NXT.  Bobby Roode will eventually need a big time opponent, or maybe need back up and Beer Money was one of the most successful tag teams in TNA’s history, and I guess that James left NXT under good terms, so that would  be nice.  Still, Bobby Lashley is the answer.  He has an MMA background, still relatively decent age, in amazing shape, and apparently is a very complete wrestler and good on the mic.  This is a dream match up for Brock in my opinion.  I could see that at Wrestlemania or Summerslam and I would be excited. Plus Bobby fought for our president and shaved Mr. Macmahon’s hair that one year at Wrestlemania.  My daddy sat there laughing and laughing and rewinding the VCR to see Vince get shaved and he made us all watch.  It was so funny.

Keri’s Verdict:  So, let me quickly talk about this week’s signings. Ricochet, or Prince Puma to those of you who watch Lucha Underground, is a terrific performer and a great add for the WWE. War Machine are former ROH and IWGP (NJPW) Tag Team Champs. These guys are awesome and quite agile in the ring despite their size. Now for Candice LeRae. I think you are all going to be impressed with her. She’s fantastic in the ring and was really impressive in the Mae Young Classic.  Now for my comments on the TNA departures. I agree that both have significantly improved and deserve their shot at redemption. And now time for points. I’m awarding a point to Harper on this question. She really gave a thorough answer to this question and mentioned people I forgot about until she mentioned them. Good job Harper.

Bonus Time: Each week Anonyruss and Harper Lee will choose a topic that hasn’t been discussed in this week’s blog.  In the event of a tie after 5 questions, Keri will use these extra thoughts to help her declare a winner.

Anonyruss:  Finn vs Rollins was a great match.  Do you know who we can thank for this great match-up?  I know you are going to say well WWE creative and you would be wrong.  It is the man with a plan Jason Jordan!  If he didn’t go to his daddy and ask for the match we all would have missed it.  Jason thank you!  What was really unexpected was the use of The Curb Stomp or what I think they are now calling “Blackout”.  I like that name.  I don’t know what made WWE unban the stomp, but if they think they can pull it off safely enough then I’m all for it!

Harper Lee:  I saw that Jey Uso was arrested for DWI.  That is so bad.  You are a representative for the company and are a role model for children, whether you want to be or not. I hope this wasn’t as serious as it sounds, but I would hope that wrestlers realize that there are plenty of children that look up to them.  Try to be responsible.  Oh, Daddy is hitting the shine again.  I better go check on him before he tries shooting our dog again thinking it’s a coon.

Keri’s Final Verdict:  Congrats to Anonyruss on this week’s win.

Final Thoughts:

Anonyruss:  This years Rumble is shaping up to be one of the best Rumbles in years.  With so many departures from TNA and signings by the WWE we could get a lot of surprise entries that could be a lot of fun.  Not to mention we are getting a women’s Rumble as well.  I’m always up for the Rumble, but this year feels more exciting than ever.

Harper Lee:  I am so excited for the RAW 25th anniversary show.  I was talking to my daddy, and he was telling me about the first RAW, and how it was such a difference compared to the previous show.  I think it was Prime Time Wrestling.  I don’t know.  He was telling me about The Undertaker fighting some guy named Damien Demento.  I wonder what he is doing right now.  I am looking for to seeing the Undertaker.  He has always been my favorite.  We’ll have our VCR set for Monday.

Keri: I have to admit WWE has me intrigued about both RAW 25 and the Rumble. I never thought I would say that. But with that said, still not excited for Mania. Why you ask? Predictable booking is predictable.
