Cube (1977)

So we had an interruption in our SAW marathon due to things beyond my complete control. I had the pleasure of watching this with Bitty and Russ. We may have talked too much during this, but it was a fantastic movie from the late 90’s. It is Sci Fi / Horror I guess. Not sure how to go about describing this.

Basically 7 strangers end up in weird cube room, and some of the rooms have death traps. They must learn to work together in hopes of surviving and escaping the Cube. You have the nerd chick, the dumb caring mouthy bitch, the militant asshole, the guy who knows stuff but doesn’t want to cooperate, the guy who has mental issues, and Rennes who is a guy who escapes prisons, and some guy we never get to know. All in all this is just as much a character study as much as a lesson in how to survive the Cube. They give you just the right amount of drama, suspense, death, and creative traps that nothing really seems too slow about it. I simply cannot give away much more that aside from the mental issue’d gentleman, Kazan, He likes the blue room.

Please, please, please heed my warning, watch these movies in order. It goes cube, the Cube 2 Hypercube, and then Cube Zero which is a prequel of sorts. This movie gets a 7.9. Now we don’t like Cube 2. Why? Because it had me sooo pumped and hyped, and it did not deliver in the least bit. Aside from the last little useles bit of info the last 3 mins, this was a flat out awful sequel that gets a 5.1. As for Cube Zero…..well how about you read the next blog.
