Joy Ride (2001)

Joy Ride….take it easy. I always wanna hear Foghat while watching this movie. I’m not sure if this is classified as horror to be honest, but it has enough elements in my opinion to warrant the classification, so choke on that slapnuts. This won’t be a terribly long post.

Joy Ride stars 4 people technically. Paul Walker is the big name, then there is Steve Zahn and Leelee Sobieski. Yes I said 4, and the other one being the voice of the antagonist. So your first question is probably, is there a way that a movie starring Paul Walker can be remotely good. The answer is surprisingly yes….times two. Go watch Running Scared as that movie is surprisingly good too. Anyway, these 3 idiots talk to this trucker on the CB radio, and they end up messing around with him and inevitably piss off the wrong cowboy. Now Rusty Nail will go to any lengths to get them and say “Candy cane” as much as he feels warranted. It’s a good cat and mouse style movie that had to have had some inspiration from the movie Duel I would think. The movie tells a simple story, and it does it well. Is it ground breaking? Hell no. But it does what it sets out to do, and does a good job. Of course there is a part 2 and I think a part 3 now. Part 2 is only good for one strip scene which leads to a guy talking about circus boobs. I woudn’t consider this must see by any means, but it is a fun way to kill an hour and a half. I would give this a 6.1 and feel justified.
