Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

Yup, I am cheating a bit here, but I don’t think anybody is gonna fault me too much for watching this fantastic cult classic. Hell, isn’t this where the term cult classic comes from? First and foremost, I understand why some people may not like this moavie. There’s people who straight up hate musicals. The topics and themes in this movie may not be for everybody. And for those people, please kindly move along to the next entry, ahem Kelly ahem.

I want to start right off by saying, how many actors are fortunately to have been more than one all time iconic character? Tim Curry has this and Pennywise the Dancing Clown, and I am sure one could make an argument for others well, but I mean those were 2 HUGE roles that he embodied and just owned. He is just so fucking good here. How do you get yourself into this character? I don’t know, but man, just great stuff. I could go and wax poetically about every last character in this because everybody did a fantastic job. Everybody has their favorites. I’m a huge fan of Columbia. And obviously I love Meatloaf and his participation in this movie really tied the room together, did it not? This movie will always bring me joy and I can’t help singing along to so many of the songs. This is a perfect example of an “older” movie that still holds up incredibly well. In 2015, it will mark the 40th anniversary. I feel like this is one of those movies that you should always be able to pull out in a large group and bring smiles to most everybody in the room. As a kid, I obviously didn’t get most of the movie, but I used to watch it when VH1 would play it. I truly hope this movie never gets remade, and I especially don’t wanna hear that it will star Johnny Depp or else I will riot.

I suppose it would be impolite to not give this a rating. Wait for it…..wait for it……9.2. Yup, it is in that illustrious group officially.
