Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986)

This will be short, and I apologize if there are many typos. My eyes are dilated and I can’t see all that well yet.

This has always been on my back burner on my NetFlix account, one of those, yeah I really wanna see it…..just not now. It stars Michael Rooker of Walking Dead fame, miss ya Merle! It came out in 86, I think this was Rooker’s first flick.

It’s a short movie, about 80 minutes minus the credits. The beginning is a tad odd, things get good by the 10-15 minute mark and don’t let up from there. This is just as much a drama as it is a horror. This is somewhat of a biopic I do believe, based on Henry Lee Lucas. There’s quite a few kills, most aren’t remotely notable, but the character development I felt was top notch. Henry’s relationship with the 2 other main characters is well done. The movie doesn’t really surprise you or anything, but it does deliver. There are 2 topless women in this, which is always good for the people who are gonna pledge some money to donate for Breast Cancer Awareness. Yeah, nobody has pledged. Maybe next year. I’m still gonna donate.

I would recommend this to anybody that can handle light to medium violence and a few boobs. The story is good, and the character development is where this truly shines along with Rooker’s performance. All 3 leads are very well developed. I’d rate this as a solid 7. I doubt many people will dislike it.
