Here’s another gem I discovered a couple years back on Netflix. I absolutely love finding movies on Netflix that I had never heard of.
Right away we have 3 popular chicks talking about some halloween party and one, the leader says “I got us some costumes that scream, we want sex, just not with you” and then they go on to refer to each other as bitches and pick of the dark haired “loser girl”. This is gonna be the most typical high school shit ever. Where the unpopular kids would pass for good looking in most other settings.
The unpopular kids are plotting some form of vengeance against the popular assholes at this party. All the horror movies that they watched will now apparently help them out. I’m excited. One thing you have to keep in mind if you decide to watch this, is that the dialogue at times is flat out poor. A 40+ year old guy wrote dialogue for teens in high school, and it’s just cliche after cliche. Everybody is just a big caricature. The asshole jocks go way beyond anything I’ve known in real life. Breaking apart from tradition, the sole black kid is the nice “cool” kid who sticks up for the unpopular. I like having a person of color not be a walking stereotype. When I want to see that, I’ll watch Tales From the Hood. P.S., go watch Tales From The Hood, as it is hilarious.
“We’ll be internet legends.” That’s what one unpopular kid says to the other, and then they have a box a guns that would make Jax Teller and the boys at SAMCRO jealous. The unpopular kids are having a talk around the campfire, spitting out vitriol. Here we go, the 3 dumb bitches dressed as cops, and one is complaining about feeling fat. Then the other says “I told you not to eat that burger. Red meat is for people who don’t care what they look like.” Every red blooded American wants her dead now. The unpopular kids are praying together. Shit is about to get dangerous. It’s like Darkwing Duck is there. A few of you got that reference, I think.
At the party now, and there is a hip hop song that is a blatant rip off of 50 Cent’s “In Da Club”. I am trying to find the name of the song so I can link it but this is when the movie gets really going. The back story is here, time to start the show! I won’t give many details beyond this, but the drinks have been spiked, and the popular kids are about to get fucked up.
The black kid is probably the MVP of this movie for me. The phone call he makes is absolutely ridiculous and hilarious. He definitely did what had to be done. Man, there isn’t much else I can honestly write about without giving everything away. I liked it, have shown it to 2 people who liked it, so maybe give it a shot. I think maybe if you had a shitty childhood, this may resonate a lot more. If you had a good upbringing, maybe this is sheer torture porn. Thank you for reading.
