Scream 3 (2000)

I remember the first time I saw this.  I rented it from Video World in Gloversville and watched it in my buddy, Eric’s basement, along with Ryan and possibly someone else.  To be honest, I don’t know how this was the pick as neither was known to be big horror fans.  Probably did it just to shut me up.  That and candy usually works. The other thing that I remember was the horrible feeling of utter disappointment.

The story here is that Ghostface is killing the cast of Stab 3.  Sidney was in hiding, pretty much but was drawn back to things, obviously.  Dewey was working on the set.  Gale gets pulled into this mess as well.  Also, in the beginning, Ghostface killed off Cotton and his woman, which bummed me out.  I liked that character.  The cast for Stab 3 is kinda annoying and not very likable.  I am sure it was intentional, but it doesn’t make the film any more fun.  I thought the fake Gale was the most fun out of any of them.  Fortunately, Lance Henriksen is the producer of the film and we get more info on Sidney’s mother.  I won’t delve into it, but it’s probably the most interesting and simultaneously most boring part of the film.  I don’t know how that’s possible.  Lots of trilogy talk.  Probably the bright spot was Heather Matarrazo playing Randy’s sister, and she had a video of Randy which I absolutely loved.  They really shouldn’t have killed him in Scream 2.

The characters are the main thing that turned me off of this film.  I found Gale to be far more tolerable in this film, but I kinda thought that Courtney looked rough in this film.  I don’t know if that was intentional or not.  She looks great in Scream 4.  I didn’t really care that much about Sidney’s story this time.  I felt the Detective was such a dull character.  Really, Arquette, Courtney, Fake Gale played by Parker Posey, Lance, and Randy were the only positives.  I get the idea.  How often are the third parts of a trilogy the least liked?   In that regard, it followed the rules.  It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anywhere near as good as the rest.

Rating: 5.5 – This wasn’t something that I really enjoyed.  Would watch again if doing a Scream marathon.  Otherwise, just go to Scream 4.

I am doing a GoFundMe to help pay for the costs to keep 9deuce.com up and running.  I don’t make any money off of the site.  I do it because I love it, but it is expensive at times, and I had to recently renew for 3 years.  So I am asking any of my readers to consider donating if they have the extra funds.  If you don’t, I get it.  It would mean a lot to me.
