Scream 4 (2011)

Why did nobody tell me how much fun this movie was?  I am disappointed in my friends. This has a solid cast and feels like the first two as far as the script, cast, and ton.

The story incorporates a world of millennials doing millennial things.  We meet Sidney’s cousin, Jill (played by the great Emma Roberts), and this is how we get Sidney back.  Dewey is no longer Deputy, he is the sheriff.  He has this very pretty deputy, Judy.  Alison Brie is in this as Sidney’s publicist or something like that, and I adore that girl.  This cast is stacked, as usual.  Hayden Panettiere and Rory Culkin are some of Jess’ friends.  Early on, we get these Stab intros and they Lucy Hale, who was the lead in the 2018 Truth or Dare film.  Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell have an early scene together.  Anthony Anderson is one of the officers.

As you can imagine, the story is that the killer is after Sidney and Jill by default of being related.  So everybody around them has to pretty much die.  By the way, Courtney Cox looked amazing in this film.  Also, David Arquette is still amazing.  I felt that Gale’s story was a bit lighter, but she had a bigger role in part 3 and that didn’t go so well.  I really liked all the Stab film references.  It worked on many levels.  Shame on the girl in the beginning who said that Saw IV was torture porn.  She deserved to die.

We see a lot of similar things that we are used to playing out in just a slightly different way.  In my opinion, this worked really well.  I liked the last 20 minutes or so.  They had me hooked.

Rating: 7.0 – Rating will fluctuate upon multiple viewings since I have only seen this one once.  I now wish that we could have had a Scream 5, but I doubt that will happen.

I am doing a GoFundMe to help pay for the costs to keep 9deuce.com up and running.  I don’t make any money off of the site.  I do it because I love it, but it is expensive at times, and I had to recently renew for 3 years.  So I am asking any of my readers to consider donating if they have the extra funds.  If you don’t, I get it.  It would mean a lot to me.
