This is a zombie drama. It does have horror elements as well as drama. The story is well done and even better performed.
This is a bit of a slow burn at first. We meet all of these kids that are in wheelchairs and they are tethered to the chairs and they are treated like shit by the guards. These kids have their own prison cells. So you know something is going on. Come to find out, they have this fungal disease of sorts that causes them to be ravenous for flesh. The teachers and guards must wear this lotion to prevent the scents that cause these kids to go crazy. Melanie is the smart girl in class, very nice, and is very fond of one teacher, Helen Justineau. As you can imagine, things go bad and they have to leave the base. That is expected. It’s about how Melanie relates to the rest of the cast that is the real journey here.
I don’t want to give too much away, but this a wonderful film with very good performances. So may not love the ending, but I thought everything went in a logical way, which is all I ever care about. This movie is on Amazon Prime and should be something to watch if you like a good story and don’t care as much about the action. There is action, some of it really good too. Just know that this is more narrative driven by some wonderful actors.
Rating: 7.1 – I really loved this movie the first time. This second time I enjoyed it again. Would definitely re-watch a third time.
