Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever (2009)

Look, I totally get why they made a sequel.  The first one was really fun, had some originality to it.  Something that most people enjoyed, so of course, you make a sequel.  From what I have read, Eli Roth and Ti West both made scripts and neither one was used.  I have read that Ti tried to get his name removed from this film.  After seeing it, I don’t blame him.  Here’s my issue.  How does a film with Larry Fessenden, Rider Strong, and Judah Friedlander suck so fucking bad?

The basic premise is that the water is contaminated and there is a water bottling company that got the bad water and everybody gets the virus.  This leads to high school drama leading up to prom.  At prom, everybody gets sick, the military or government gets involved to eradicate everyone.  The 2 main stars attempt to escape, and naturally, the guy gets killed because girls must live in horror, and she escapes with the deputy.  Then there’s some stuff at a strip club, which was comical.

I didn’t have a good time.  It went past the point of fun.  I like the violence and gore, and some of the comedy even worked fine.  By and large, it was groan inducing.  The leads weren’t strong enough to make me care.  I wasn’t cheering anybody on.  You should have someone to cheer on.  Instead, I just wanted everybody to be gunned down.

I want to give a positive note.  I thought the music was very good and fit this film incredibly well.  The vast majority of my rating will be due to the music.

Rating: 3.2 – 2.5 points are for the music.  0.7 for the film itself, and that’s mostly for the deputy.  This is something you may want to see as a fan of Cabin Fever, but it lacks all of the charm of the original.  I promise you that. When a director wants his name removed from something that he spent this much time on, you know it’s bad.

I am doing a GoFundMe to help pay for the costs to keep 9deuce.com up and running.  I don’t make any money off of the site.  I do it because I love it, but it is expensive at times, and I had to recently renew for 3 years.  So I am asking any of my readers to consider donating if they have the extra funds.  If you don’t, I get it.  It would mean a lot to me.
