This is one of my all time favorite slasher films. Go and see out part 1, 2, & 3. As a matter of fact, 2 & 3 are on Netflix, so you only need seek out the first one. Now I watched them way out of order, I did 2, 3, 1, and then Return to Sleepaway Camp. Watch them however you want, and 1 is different from 2 and 3 significantly, but still very very fun.
I have a dilimma, in order for me to do a proper synopsis, I have to let the cat out of the bag about the big tweest from the original. I don’t want to spoil this for anybody who may wish to watch them in order. So this will be very generalized.
The killer returns from part 1. They make such a mockery of things and the killer is just fantastic. There are tons of horror references in this, and tons of cliches. This movie is not trying to reinvent the wheel. It is an homage to the awesome 80’s slashers. Ok, this was made in 88, but fuck off. This has some very fun camp setting kills. The killer adds so much to this film. There’s a great song called “I’m a happy camper” in this. Here’s a link.
This has that awesome mice of blood, a little gore, lots of kills, lots of boob shots, and some comedy mixed in. You can watch this with a group of friends along with part 3 and just have a fun night. While looking for the trailer, I came across part 1 in full on YouTube, sooo I’ll be watching that later. I will post the link to the trailer, but don’t watch it if you don’t want to be spoiled.
Finally, my rating is really higher than it may deserve, but allow me to say this, I have never had somebody not enjoy this movie after I showed it to them, and that is close to 10 people, men and women, horror and non horror fans. I give this a 7.2 for sheer awesomeness.
